About this sitter

I’m in my 40s, living in Hungary and interested in petsits from the end of December 2024 onwards, mainly in the south of Europe.

I’m crazy about dogs and fond of other animals, especially donkeys, goats, cats and poultry, and seem to have a special knack for understanding them.

Over the past 10 years I've lived in several off-grid and semi-nomadic places, and I really wouldn't mind looking after such a home. Green surroundings in the countryside, away from loud street noise and busy cities is where I feel the happiest.

I'm reliable and responsible, sociable and helpful. Long done with wild partying, don't smoke, hardly ever drink alcohol. I have a driving-licence and driving experience (shift-gear), and I'm an avid cyclist.

Ideally, I’d like to house-sit in an area where there's some kind of alternative community of like-minded travellers, expats, explorers, artists and environmentally conscious people, so as not to get too isolated socially.

I speak fluent English, basic Portuguese and German, and have a basic understanding of Italian and Spanish.

I'm financially stable and will take care of my own food while house-sitting. Mostly vegetarian, so it'd be nice to have a freshfood market or grocery shop nearby, or farmers to buy my veggies from.

Why they want to house sit

I find it really rewarding to be helping out others while getting to know new places and people.

I really miss living with a dog since my old furry friend passed away, so I especially enjoy looking after dogs and giving lots of love to them.

It seems that the people in this community have shared values and perspectives on life, so I'm definitely looking forward to making new friends here!

Their experience

So far I've done two "official", longer-term house-sits, both with lovely animals, who I grew really fond of. Also done quite a lot of dog- and catsitting for my friends in their homes and mine.
In the past I spent many years volunteering on organic farms around Europe (with Workaway and Helpx), and done lots of gardening as well as caring for all kinds of animals.

I deeply appreciate and value the types of energy exchanges that form between people who are initially strangers and become closely connected through what they can offer to one another - in this case, a home on one side and care on the other.

What can they bring to the assignment

I'm bringing TLC for all the animals and long walks for the pups! Especially love doing off-leash walks several times a day. But I can also take care of old dogs who need special attention and don't want to walk much, but would rather just be getting cuddles on the couch or relaxing around the house.

I'm currently training to be a certified dog massage therapist (completing my course in mid-December '24) and would love to offer my new skills to help dogs with orthopedic rehabilitation, or just for wellness purposes.

I'd also gladly do light gardening jobs if you have anything to plant, weed, prune, cut or harvest.

I'm an organised person who really knows how to keep a house clean, tidy and cosy. I'm attentive to detail, good at troubleshooting, and fairly handy with tools.

I believe that transparent communication is essential in this kind of exchange. I need to know clearly what's expected from me as for the caretaking of the animals and the house, what the dos and donts are, or how much flexibility I have in decision-making in certain situations. I don't undertake a sit where I don't feel like I can perfectly take care of the tasks I'd be assigned with.
