Enthusiastic and active couple from The Netherlands

About this sitter

Trustworthy and reliable couple, retired, but still working, active, fit and healthy, non smokers. Creative (Mona is an artist and teacher in painting/drawing)), nature lovers and hikers. We take house sitting very seriously. We speak FRENCH, ENGLISH and GERMAN and a reasonable command of ITALIAN. We did a lot of house sitting in France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Netherlands.
We are so proud and very happy to tell that most of the house- and pet owners invited us to come back and sit again for them.
Lots of experience with big dogs, (outdoor)cats, chickens, sheep.
Also with grass mowing , garden- and swimmingpool maintainance.
We prefer a quiet place with privacy.
Periode: throughout the year. Preference 4 weeks or longer.
We have our own car and are driving through whole Europe for house sitting. As we are free and flexible we can come any time the home owner should want

Why they want to house sit

We really love animals, in particular dogs and also cats and we like to travel by car around Europe to meet new people and to explore other countries.
We find it an honour and a pleasure to look after precious pets, whilst keeping homes clean and secure. .We like to combine our love for travel and culture with pet- and house sitting.

Their experience

House sitting experience in France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Netherlands. We have considerable experience with big dogs, (especially Labrador Retrievers, and for instance Rodesian Ridgebacks and Bernese Mountaindogs), but also rescue dogs and cats.

Mona and Pieter were just fantastic! As all their reviews say!
Such a lovely couple, the dogs took to them straight away.....well Amba took 3 minutes but then thats Amba! They coped with everything the universe threw at them, storms, power cuts, floods, a sick chicken, a wounded chicken, 3 ft high grass in the fields and they still had time to keep us updated almost daily. The house was immaculate when we returned, Mona had even been weeding my flower bed! Our return flight was delayed and Mona had cooked a delicious Indonesian meal for us all, they waited and ate with us at 10pm! We cannot recommend them highly enough and we hope they will come and sit for us again soon. Thank you so much Mona and Pieter x

Wonderful sitters!
Such a nice experience. They took such great care of my chocolate lab. The place was left spotless! I can only recommend Mona and her husband, they are wonderful!

Mona & Pieter are such a wonderful couple - it’s the second time they have sat for me. They love Mole & Otis so much and tell me all about their antics whilst I was away - we shared and dinner on the day they arrived and they made me lunch in the day they left. The house was left immaculate - they even weeded the lawn. I’m always nervous when I go away and leave my dogs but when Mona & Pieter are looking after them I feel relaxed and happy to leave because I know my pets and my house are in good hands. Mona and Pieter are experienced and highly trustworthy pet sitters. They are reliable and caring and took great care of our pets and their idiosyncratic needs. The dogs in particular were sorry to see them go. The accommodation was left spotless. This is the second time Mona and Pieter have sat for us and we would always welcome them back.

The dogs greeted Pieter and Mona as old friends (as did we!), relieved we had picked people they liked and trusted to look after them while we were away. Even our cats, who usually ignore anyone we carefully recruit to care for them, welcomed Pieter and Mona's return. It all worked perfectly.
