About this sitter

Hello, My name is Kristen and I am an avid World traveler. Over the last 15 years I have lived in China, Hawaii, Switzerland, and the United States. I Will come to the end of my work contract in spring of 2024 and I am looking to take a sabbatical of 3 to 12 months, possibly longer and I would love to spend that time in a new location house sitting. I would love to find myself in California, preferably not LA, possibly San Diego, or a more quiet area in the mountains. Still with easy access to the Coast.
I would also love to find a long-term situation in Hawaii if possible. I formerly lived in Kona for 2 years. I was doing graphic design and communication for a medical ships program. I would love to find my way back onto any of the islands. I am an avid explorer, hiker, enjoy of all things outdoors, coffee, good food, and sunsets. I am open really to the opportunity to go anywhere, but those locations are definitely on my heart right now. I run a small side business making polymer clay earrings, so I would love to find a location where I could bring my supplies and continue that craft, and also somewhere that has events and or farmers markets where I could sell my earings as well.

Why they want to house sit

I love house sitting because it affords me the opportunity to experience a new place, while also feeling like I have a home. On then the flip side, the host family gets the peace of mind of knowing that their home and or animals are well cared for and looked after in their absence.

Their experience

I currently work as a full-time nanny. My nanny children are all reaching school age so come May my contract will be ending after 3 and 1/2 years. I am looking for my next move, and I am interested in taking a three to 12 month season house sitting in a new location. Here where I live in Charlotte North Carolina. I house sit professionally. I have three consistent families who I care for their homes and pets numerous times throughout the year. I have been with these families for over 3 years and they are all willing to give references. Just recently I started travel house sitting and have done two holiday stays in New York City.

What can they bring to the assignment

I am fiercely independent, I am resilient, resourceful, a quick thinker, and a master of many things they like to say. I come with a vehicle as long as the job is within the continental US. I am capable of dealing with any surprise issues that may arise, whether that be fixing a toilet if it were to break, or communicating with maintenance people to come and complete repairs on their own. I love hiking, exploring, getting outside as much as I can, even if it's just going and reading in the park. And I would love to bring your dog along for adventures if it is a house sitting scenario. I am very laid back and very independent, I'm not a party person or someone to be out all hours of the night. I am very mature and responsible.
