About this sitter

Hi, I am Irish and an empty nester for 8 years and have bundles of experience in house/pet sitting and holiday home management these years. I have lived in Spain 15 yrs and work remote part time only now. Known as loyal, reliable, resourceful and flexible - I'm happiest with animals cuddled or walking the mountains or taking in an early beach sunrise. I like to keep busy so gardening, fruit picking, picking up a paintbrush or cleaning a pool is no bother. I drive and speak Spanish so a remote location suits. I enjoy peace & quiet, cooking to podcasts or pilates. I am looking for a sit in Spain/Europe or international locations: 2 wks to 2 years having recently sold the family home in Madrid after my father's death.

Why they want to house sit

Having always had family animals: cats, dogs, rabbits & a turtle, but being without them now, I love my time spent with others animals pet sitting and gives a place for my nurturing and love. House & pet sitting indulges my love of independence and travel and makes me feel useful and connected. I am active, healthy and hands on and with just instruction I can master workings of solar panels, eco & water systems dependably. I am safety and routine conscious. I don't need to go sightseeing or long day trips while house or pet sitting as I have travelled extensively worldwide, my focus is the assignment, enjoying the diversity of a different home, new vistas and the opportunity to enjoy the animals. I am a keen writer and dabble at painting also and I use new life experiences, synchronicities and unexplored territories as creative "meat" for my work.

Their experience

I have had the pleasure of completing 16 pet sits in various homes & estates in Spain, Ireland, Australia & UK. The longest being 14 months, the most hands on being 4 holiday cottages with pools and dogs, quadbike included! I have been re-requested many times to the same pet sits as I form a loving bond with their animals, and leave their homes as I find them, tidy, clean and well kept, giving owners peace of mind when they are away.
Prior to retiring I was a live-in care Dementia nurse and had many years caring for clients in their homes, which involved maintaining the upkeep of their household, gardens, pet care and household errands also.
I have also house sit in Spain for an owner whilst the property was being sold and was happy and valued to professionally accompanying viewings and Notary visits for the owner.
I have a DBS police check, full driving licence and speak Spanish.

What can they bring to the assignment

Living in Spain I am familiar with communicating in Spanish with contactors, emergencies, vets, and well versed in local culture, climate & norms.
My family home was in Madrid until last year when my father died after I cared for him for several years. I have no family commitments and can offer flexibility or short notice extended stays. I'm a active multi tasker but always have hands to pet, cuddle or throw a ball too.
The worst part of pet sitting is having to say goodbye to special bonds I have made - but each and all are wonderful memories that I carry with me..
