Semi-Retired Empty Nester Couple Traveling The World

About this sitter

We are a mid-40s empty nest couple from Colorado, USA who are semi-retired and traveling the world full-time! We spend a lot of time at home during a house sit and love getting to understand what life in each new part of the world is like. Alicia works part-time remotely, so having a comfy home for that is a lovely change from a hotel room. We travel solely by public transportation, so busses and trains nearby, or walkable locations are perfect for us!

Why they want to house sit

We like to break up our travels with house sitting to have some time to slow down and enjoy having a home and pets again. We love the savings housesitting has provided us while we have been traveling. We also love spending time with pets of all types and having moments of feeling "at home" after being away for so long.

Their experience

We have been housesitting for nearly two years on another platform and are currently on our 14th sit. We have watched all kinds of pets (dogs, cats, chickens, ducks) in many different countries, and even took on caring for a rescued possum kit once. We have always been dog people and love all breeds, but housesitting has taught us that we love cats too! We have dealt with everything from a single cat to a small menagerie for someone who rescues animals in Cambodia.

What can they bring to the assignment

We bring with us the security of an older couple who have been homeowners and understand the ins and outs of caring for a home. We have over 20 years of animal ownership experience through the good and the heartbreaking. We have a genuine love of animals and we actually like staying put during housesits as a break from traveling instead of a free hotel, so your pets have companionship while you're away.
