About this sitter

We are a unique family. We live full time as the only residents of a 217 acre island in Washington State. We thrive off-grid, away from civilization, and we are the caretakers of our remote paradise in every way (maintenance & management of people, ecology... everything.) There is no backup, there is no laziness - to put it simply, we live differently and have a work ethic and patience for things most people no longer possess in our busy and chaotic world.

Why they want to house sit

We travel every winter when our island preserve is closed to the public, and we make a limited salary so care taking another place or housesitting is ideal for us.

Their experience

We can do anything - honestly. We can build it, maintain it, feed it, water it, and most importantly... deal with it if anything ever goes wrong.

Also, a lot of people are scared of children. Our daughter is about to be three years old and I can't express enough how different her life/our life is than most other families. We are parents in our 40's, and we have a different level of patience and a very different lifestyle than most families. We have a wood stove with no gate around it - our daughter knows not to touch it and we would never leave her unattended around it anyway. There is fear in this world about children getting hurt or whatever and the tendency is to buy gates and borders and straps and whatever... but attentive parenting, good communication and diligence = the same results. Kids aren't for everyone I know, but please know our child is very well cared for a not a risk to animals, plants, stairs, glass tables and anything else you're afraid might get hurt or broken. We have a 70 pound dog a home and she is used to animals.

What can they bring to the assignment

A deep understanding of responsibility and communication that goes with taking care of something well. We are not flakey, or lazy, or messy or substance users. We have great references and stellar reviews on airbnb and many other platforms where we have rented or caretaken things in the past.
