About this sitter

We Marian and Mike, both almost in our late fifties, have sold our farmhouse and have travelled around Europe with our camper. So we travel around all year round and are therefore very flexible in terms of time and place. Mike still works part-time as a graphic designer and can actually work anywhere and Marian has quit her job.

In between exploring new places, walking and cycling, we like to look after both houses and animals, for us this is a moment of relaxation. We have owned a large Wieringermeer farm with almost a hectare of land for 16 years and therefore know what a bit of maintenance entails. During these 16 years we have kept 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 sheep and about 12 chickens (not all at the same time, by the way) and sometimes miss the loving contact with animals.

We have no children and no other obligations in the Netherlands and can - in consultation - look after animals for longer or shorter periods and do minor maintenance on the location. However, we prefer a somewhat freer object, preferably where our camper can also be parked, this can also be nearby. A remote location is no problem at all. We also have a car if the location is not too far from the Netherlands.

Both non-smoking, know how to tackle things and can solve small and larger repairs almost themselves, provided there are sufficient tools available. Of course experienced with mowers in various forms, pruning equipment, chainsaws, painting, sanding and filling work.

Given that we are very mobile, we think it would be nice and wise to come to you first, if the first contact here is positive.

Speak fluent English, German and Dutch, basic French and Italian.

In our five and a half years of traveling we have stayed in about 3 houses per year, from weeks to a few months. First via a Dutch site, now here to explore more possibilities.

What can they bring to the assignment

Experienced with mowers in various forms, pruning equipment, chainsaws, and a little painting if necessary. We’re fit and used to maintaining horses, goats, sheep, donkeys and smaller pets as well.
