Hello! I’m Rain (yes, my parents embrace their inner hippies). I graduated from Western Washington University last year with a degree in Classical Music and another in French Language, two subjects that truly ignite my passion. During my college journey i had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in France, where I immersed myself in the vibrant culture, indulged in delicious cuisine, and refined my accent. My experiences there deepened my love for the language and its rich history, and I aspire to move back one day to continue my adventures. When I'm not studying or traveling, you can find me playing the harp, oboe, or piano. Unless I'm petting my cat of course.
Growing up, I was lucky to share my life with two amazing pets: an adorable cat named Ariel, and a sweet Golden Retriever named Aspen. Aspen was diagnosed with diabetes, and I cherished every moment with her, even when I had to give her insulin shots- which broke my heart. Despite her condition, she remained her loving self, and I’ll always hold those memories close to my heart. Ariel was a spirited indoor-outdoor cat who loved to hunt, even bringing us a hummingbird once as a “gift.” It’s a testament to how smart and affectionate animals can be!
Currently, I’m back home with my mom, her boyfriend, and their lovely tuxedo cat, Athena. She’s become quite the diva and has definitely claimed me as her favorite! Anytime I sit down to read or write, she’s right there, ready to snuggle. I love spoiling her with fresh wet food every morning and keeping her water topped up with reverse osmosis purified water. I wouldn't have it any other way. I have a genuine love for animals and take pride in caring for them. I’m excited about the opportunity to house sit and take care of some furry friends with the same love and attention I give to mine.

As a house sitter and pet caregiver, I'm looking for clear expectations regarding my duties, including specific pet care responsibilities and house maintenance tasks, along with established emergency procedures. I want comprehensive information about the pets, including their behavioral insights, routines, and any special needs they may have. Comfortable living arrangements are essential, so I appreciate having necessary amenities and a secure environment. Effective communication is key, so I prefer to agree on how often I'll provide updates and how available I’ll be for questions. I also value clarity on the duration of the housesit, compensation details, and any expenses related to pet care. Additionally, ensuring a good fit with the home’s environment and lifestyle is important, and I appreciate the opportunity for a meet and greet to foster trust and compatibility. Overall, a successful housesitting experience hinges on clear communication, understanding, and mutual respect.
I’m seeking house-sitting opportunities primarily because it provides housing while I focus on securing teaching positions that align with my education and experience in music and French. This arrangement allows me to avoid entry-level minimum wage work that can negatively impact my quality of life. By reducing my financial strain, I can dedicate my energy to pursuing my career goals and investing in my passions, ultimately making my dreams a reality. Additionally, house-sitting offers a unique chance to immerse myself in different neighborhoods and cultures, gaining insight into local lifestyles that will inform my decision about where I want to establish my career. Living in various homes not only enriches my experience but also allows me to connect with pets and homeowners, fostering relationships as I navigate this important transition in my life. Overall, house-sitting is a mutually beneficial opportunity that supports my professional aspirations while enhancing my personal growth.
Yes, I have experience cat-sitting, house-sitting, and plant-sitting for my oboe teacher on several occasions throughout my college career. I was honored that she trusted me with her home, beloved pets, and plants. During these stays, I cared for her two cats: Jefferson, the big gray snuggle bug, and a shy orange tabby. I also tended to her garden and beautiful indoor plants according to her outlined schedule and specifications. I truly appreciated her clear instructions, which put my mind at ease knowing I was providing the necessary care for her furry friends to thrive.
Additionally, I have extensive experience caring for a dog with diabetes, as she was my own. I ensured she received her insulin shots promptly after her meals. Growing up with cats has made me comfortable with their needs as well. I also served as a caregiver for a gentleman with mental health challenges for seven months while attending school. In this role, I cooked his meals, took him on nice long walks, and kept him company, which brought me great joy. I’ve discovered that caring for others, whether they are fellow humans or animals, gives me a profound sense of joy and peace, making me feel like I’m making a difference in this crazy world.
I bring a strong sense of mindfulness and awareness, influenced by my upbringing. My mother instilled in me the importance of being courteous and present in every situation. This nurturing nature, combined with my housekeeping skills, allows me to create a sense of peace and tranquility in any home. Which helps me sustain a sense of inner wellbeing, because I am highly sensitive to the environment, I find myself in
I have worked as a housekeeper at the Briar Rose Bed and Breakfast, now known as the Guest House Inn, in Boulder, Colorado. In this role, I performed a wide array of duties, including harvesting fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden for guests’ breakfasts, deep cleaning, preparing custom teas made to order, and creating beautiful flower arrangements. I take joy in keeping spaces fresh and tidy, as it contributes to my own sense of ease and well-being.
Caring for animals is also a significant aspect of my life; they have a unique ability to remind me that everything will be alright. My goal is to provide a calm and loving atmosphere for your pets while maintaining your home with the utmost respect and care. I believe that my mindfulness and attention to detail can help create a harmonious environment that benefits both your pets and your home.
