About this sitter

I am an academic editor and have a PhD in linguistics - I work remotely with university faculty assisting them with writing projects, including books, journal articles, job documents, grants, and other common academic documents. I grew up on a farm in rural Washington State and now have one teenage daughter and live in Eugene, Oregon. I enjoy reading and writing, spending time with family and friends and, of course, traveling and meeting new people and seeing new places.

Why they want to house sit

I enjoy traveling very much, but I'm also kind of a homebody- it's an odd combination! The thought of going to new places and meeting new people while also being able to retreat to "home" is perfection for me. And if that home happens to have adorable animals to love.... I cannot imagine a better situation!

Their experience

I have been a trusted house and pet sitter for friends, family, and neighbors for 30y. I have house keys to most neighbors' and many friends' homes because I can be called on to help out both in a pinch and for longer periods of time with myriad domestic tasks including pet care.

What can they bring to the assignment

I have always loved animals and especially enjoy them in my living spaces as part of the family! I'm at a point in my life where I have the freedom to work remotely and see more of the world, which makes house-sit/pet-sit situations ideal for me. I greatly value the enormous responsibility and respect it takes to care for a home, as either a renter or an owner. Our homes and pets are precious and leaving them can be very anxiety provoking. Let me help alleviate some of the anxiety so you can enjoy your time away (and I get to enjoy your places and pets!)
