About this sitter

I am 35, and a textile artist and educator from Manchester UK. I am friendly and approachable with an excellent track record of caring for plants and animals! I love being in new cities and feel that house sitting is the perfect way to get to know a location. I am reliable and communicate well with clarity and compassion (14 years of teaching has definitely helped me with this!) I am creative and love to make things, particularly with textiles but this also extends to cooking! I am very clean, and actually like to clean as it keeps me calm. I am looking for a space that can feel like a home-away-from-home whilst I am doing an art residency - animals and plants are an added bonus!

Why they want to house sit

I have been accepted for an art residency in NYC for the month of April and am looking for a base to situate myself in. I would be based in the studio for most of the time but would appreciate a welcoming space to rest and relax in.

Their experience

I have lived in sublets and communal living communities, really enjoying the experience and feeling the mutual level of respect between different people. I am experienced in that I have held down multiple jobs, teaching in Universities for 14 years managing student experiences and teaching/learning environments as well as developing my own artistic practice. Ultimately, I am respectful of people's spaces and think this has been shown in the different types of living spaces I have occupied. I have cared for animals and plants at different points of my life and find it really fulfilling. I can provide references on request if this is helpful.

What can they bring to the assignment

A considerate, respectful approach to house-sitting and pet/plant sitting, responsible and sensible, whilst still being able to find the joy in life! My clear communication and patient approach makes me a flexible and genuinely nice person to work with/live with - I think these qualities translate well to this situation!
