Retired English University Manager and Care Lecturer looking for about one month's sitting anywhere

About this sitter

John and Liz are keen travellers and have visited over 30 countries during our 45 year marriage. We are currently looking for anywhere for 4 weeks -more or less. We have had six very successful assignments for different couples for 4 and 5 week periods in Spain, the Netherlands, Italy and Bristol Uk.

Why they want to house sit

We want an inexpensive "home from home" where we can immerse ourselves in the local culture. Liz needs somewhere to complete her new Science Fiction novel and John wants somewhere to read,relax and research the local area wherever it is!

Their experience

We had a very successful House Sit looking after a dog and cat for a month in Spain  in February 2011 and another for 5 weeks looking after a beautiful cat in February/March 2012 and several cats and 2 dogs in Andalucia for 3 weeks in December 2013. Also 4 wonderful weeks looking after 7 cats and a German Shepherd in eastern Netherlands 2018 and 4 weeks in northern Italy in 2022 and a week in Bristol, UK in 2023. We are homeowners and used to rent out another property so we are conscious of the concerns and needs of home and pet owners. We are dog and cat lovers and have always had a cat although "Missy" has recently died after 15 years companionship. We have also provided a home for guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rabbits and a snake but although we love dogs have never had one ourselves (many of our close friends have them) because of work and other commitments. We have both ridden horses but are not experienced equestrians! We are both cyclists, swimmers and drivers (with clean licences!)
We can provide references from the house owners as well as previous  employers as well as an ex Mayor of Banbury and a Dean of the Church of England. We are in the process of obtaining Testimonials from people we have sat for.
 

What can they bring to the assignment

We are both keen gardeners and non smokers. I am a very practical/handy person and experienced in carpentry, landscaping and decorating etc. but physical activities are impeded by scoliosis. Liz is a conscientious carer in all things including homes!
We're both entirely reliable, adaptable and amiable people and happy to undertake any duties we believe we are capable of.
