Experienced, mature, dependable house sitters

About this sitter

Hello,

We have been housesitting for 15 years. We live in
North Vancouver, Canada and are seniors and both retired.
We are both fit and in excellent health. Our hobbies include
hiking, travelling, reading, gardening, swimming, and snorkelling. We
are non-smokers, non-drinkers and very responsible.

We've house-sat in Canada (many times), Spain (five times), Ireland
(four times), Sweden, Belgium, England, Scotland, Puerto Rico, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Texas and Hawaii (four times). At
the moment we are house-sitting in Comox, on Vancouver Island. We have
had this sit 11 times, for a total of 11 years and we are back
here every year in October until mid-April.

We love dogs - all sizes and shapes - and have been involved in the
training of assistance dogs for the physically disabled in Vancouver.
Most of the dogs we have trained were Labradors and golden retrievers.
It is amazing to see how intelligent and talented dogs are. We will
certainly treat your dog(s) with the utmost care, respect and attention
they deserve. We believe that dogs are an integral part of the family
and should be treated as such.

Dave's military experience has enabled us to be comfortable with
relocating anywhere. Debra’s background in first aid is a valuable
asset to our two and four-legged friends.
We have impeccable references and police clearances from the Royal
Canadian Mounted Police. In November, 2010 Debra travelled to
Washington DC, where her brother, Nigel Whitehouse, received the top
FSN (Foreign Service National) of the year award from Hillary Clinton
in recognition of his lifetime of service to the US government.
Because she went into the State Department and had a VIP tour of the
Pentagon she had to go through rigorous security checks. Her
sister-in-law, Lynn Whitehouse, is the Canadian Consul in Chad,
Africa. We include this information as an insight to our character.

Being homeowners ourselves, we know the peace of mind that comes from
knowing your home, pets and possessions have been left in the care of
people that will look after them with the same level of attention that
they take with their own belongings. We can assure you that we will do
just that, so you can enjoy your trip without worry or concern.

Why they want to house sit

We have been retired now for 15 years and love to travel and meet people from everywhere. We are also big dog lovers and know how hard it is sometimes for dog owners to find suitable accommodation and care for their pets. This is where we come in. It makes us happy to provide a service such as this in order to spread some goodwill and ease peoples' minds about the care of their dog.
