About this assignment
An experienced animal lover to care for and cherish our aged dogs Dido, Puppy and Shiva and Barney the cat. Also to care for our rather unique semi-cave house in Cappadocia.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Primarily to walk, feed and generally care for the three dogs and cat and to keep our cave house in good order. Also to water plants if required.
What are the good features of the property and location
The small working town of Ortahisar is on the edge of a Unesco Heritage site with the most magnificent walks and scenery of Byzantine rock churches and Fairy chimneys. There are many balloon companies in the area for enthusiasts. We are 5 kilometers from the tourist town of Göreme and 7 kilometres from the tourist/ market town of Urgup. The posting would be great for walkers, painters, photographers, historians, writers or indeed anyone loves animals and appreciates extraordinarily beautiful landscape.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
A good level of fitness as the area pretty hilly. The dogs are very quiet ex- street dogs and are now old. However they still need 2 short walks a day. All have a beautiful temperament. The house and terrace is on different levels. The upper part of the house contains the Kitchen, studio/bedroom and bathroom. with the book room, sitting room downstairs.

Perfect sit in stunning Cappadocia
Judi and Jim are a warm and friendly couple and we spent 3 comfortable weeks in their tastefully renovated, typical cappadocian cave house. They gave us all the instructions we needed and stayed in touch throughout the assignment. Dido, Shiva and Puppy were our faithful, affectionate dog companions and it was a pleasure to walk with them every day in the beautiful valley just down the street. We really bonded with them but it’s hard not to :) We also managed to get Barny the grumpy cat (well, not really) to like us, which we are quite proud of! The four of them are really easy-going and easy to look after, but experience with large dogs is definitely a plus since this is a village and there are other dogs and animals around. A fantastic sit in a beautiful place with really good doggies and a cat that we miss already.
