About this assignment

As Fanny is a rescue dog, we never feel comfortable putting her into kennels and prefer her to be kept in her usual routine. She needs a walk each day and company. Our house is rural, but not isolated, so we like to know that it is secure and being looked after.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Walking our dog and feeding her. She is used to being left for a few hours, so sitters would be able to explore the area. We like to grow our own veg so there might be some watering to do.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our house is an old farm workers cottage, formerly part of the Sandringham Estate, surrounded by fields. It has all the benefits of modern life, but we have kept many traditional features. Despite feeling very rural, we do have some neighbours and North Wootton village is within cycling distance. King's Lynn is a 10 minute drive. We have many lovely beaches nearby.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You need a car as there is no public transport. We have fields around us that are farmed, so occasionally we get tractors passing or working nearby. Fanny is very friendly, but she is not used to sharing her space with other dogs or children and so this sit is only suitable for a single person or couple. Our dates are open to negotiation!

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

A memorable dogsitting

This sitting in the middle of a savannah is a true highlight of the summer. I remember lots of fun, long walks, learning to use an old stone well for watering the vegetables and also cuddles, quiet evenings watching the little owl on the barn, the stars. The dogs have quite different characters and I was especially glad that Lola overcame her distrust really quickly. I totally fell in love with Fanny, Lola and the land. Ruth communicated details and pictures to make it easy for me to find the house and I felt heartly welcomed by her and her husband. Thank you both to have trusted me to take care of your charming house, the vegetables and the funny dogs. I had truly a memorable time!

Really nice house sit

Ruth and Sean were most welcoming, they made us a lovely meal on our arrival and could not have been more helpful. The dogs Fanny and Lola were a delight to look after, and the house was beautiful and clean. We loved this sit, and hope to return again someday. Love and blue skies Shirl and Mel
