About this assignment

A person, or persons, who can be flexible with time/dates as I may only know a week in advance when I'm likely to be away, but those also willing to do a short-term sit, i.e. probably not more than one week, although longer visits away may also be feasible.

Someone who is able to look after Dusty, one quiet cat of fourteen years old who likes attention, her food and warm, home comforts!

A person who likes the quiet, rural life yet who can also, if they wish, take themselves to nearby town life, and who is independent, able to be alone if necessary.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

To take care of Dusty, feed, fuss her and keep her company, especially in the evenings when she tends to miss the companionship of her other animal companions that she grew up with but sadly, now no longer with us.!

Generally, to keep the house and garden reasonably safe, clean and tidy.

What are the good features of the property and location

A terraced house in a peaceful, small & friendly community near the sea, (Shingle Street a walk away), heathland and forests. Plenty of lovely walks in the surrounding countryside. Aldeburgh seaside town is half an hours drive away with the Benjamin Britten concert Halls at Snape Maltings on the way. The sweet little fishing village of Orford is also close by with Woodbridge town seven miles away from my village, plus Ipswich town, with its docks, half an hour away.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Housesitter to be fairly quietish as that is what Dusty is used to as she is quite timid if she hears loud noises, other people entering the house (especially afraid of little children). Someone willing to feed and show affection to a beautiful cat who is very easy to please!
Individual would also be prepared to come the day before I leave in order to get to know mine and Dusty's usual routines etc.

Best to have a car for travelling around, although there is a village shop within a ten minuet walk and a community bus that can be booked on the phone a few days in advance!

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

Quiet stay with lovely family pack.

I really enjoyed all the peace in between the vast choice of walks out with PJ. I was greeted every morning by Rothko mainly and never far behind was Dusty. Sarah had left some detailed instructions on how to help look after all three. I was grateful for the verbal exchange and also to go out for a walk with Sarah and PJ before she left. Sarah has a lovely comfortable home with a long garden and a flap for the cats. I sat out in the garden enjoying the sun reading a book. All three behaved themselves which meant I finished my book and did some work online too. Thankyou Sarah for making this a very pleasant sit.

Relaxing House and Pet sit

PJ and the two cats Rothko and Dusty were a pleasure to look after. John and I enjoyed in particular our walks on Shingle Beach nearby with PJ. PJ and John seemed to develop a great relationship in fact it was quite funny at times to watch. John trying Doggie Talk with PJ and PJ responding by making these pleasant funny little noises like trying to talk to John. Sarah gave us a thorough handover before leaving and we found her home very comfortable and spacious.

Enjoyable Suffolk stay with characterful dog

We enjoyed looking after this little family of pets. PJ the French Petit Basset Griffon is such a character. He helps manage the household and the cats while their owner is away. Immaculate house in quiet village with country walks. Sarah is kind, thoughtful and friendly and she made us very welcome and comfortable. She has a fabulous library too! Thank you to PJ, Dusty and Rothko for having us to stay for a few days of fun.

Fabulous house sit

We had a really lovely time looking after PJ, Dusty and Rothko. We arrived the day before Sarah went away to make sure we were familiar with all of their routine but she also left a clear written guide in case we forgot anything. Sarah has a lovely house and we felt completely at home there. She made us feel really welcome and it was lovely to spend time getting to know her before she left the next day. Her house is located in a very pretty area of Suffolk and just a short drive from a lovely pebble beach. We were spoilt for choice in places to walk PJ. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this house sit and hopefully we can help Sarah again on another occasion.

Great pets and cozy home

We had a wonderful stay at Sarah’s. The house was clean and tidy and very comfortable. Sarah was very welcoming and friendly. We fell in love with PJ. A dog with such a wonderful personality- just adorable. He loved his walks. The 2 cats were friendly. Each with their own personalities. There are some lovely walks to do in the area and we really enjoyed Woodbridge. Thanks Sarah.
