Cats are outside cats They are fixed and friendly, but they.will remind you when it is time to be fed. Dog is an inside 25 pound poodle schnauzer mix. He is energetic, loves walks, and to chase golf balls.

About this assignment
Reliable and trustworthy. Clean and nonsmoker. No pets of their own at our house. Unfortunately, my wife is allergic, and we have had a bad experience in the past with sitter's animals.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feeding a small dog 2 times a day and allowing him chances to go potty outside. Feeding 2 outside cats 3 x a day. Watering plants every other day. Basic pool maintenance. General overseeing of basic house ownership.
What are the good features of the property and location
We have a three story home that overlooks (currently dry) Lake Medina, near San Antonio, Texas. While not palatial by any means, it is a modern and comfortable home with wifi. It has a heated swimming pool,golf simulator, and putting green/raised garden. Many entertainment and cultural opportunities (San Antonio, Austin, and more!) are within 2 hours drive.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
We will need house sitters from March 28th- early May (still TBD but about the 5th) for a trip to South America and Europe. Experience with a swimming pool would be helpful. We believe this to be a relatively an easy assignment.

Gerard and Denise welcomed us prior to their departure with a wonderful dinner and showed us what was required. Bear, their dog, is a real cutie and no trouble. The 2 "feral" cats will greet you at feeding times. Comfortable and nicest home tucked away in a rural community. An extraordinary panoramic view from the rear even though Lake Medina has dried up. Several eating options and convenience shopping with San Antonio and Boerne not too far away.

Very embracing
It was a pleasure to housesit for Gerard and Denise. We were greeted upon arrival with a warm hug from Denise. We had a very pleasant evening together with a delicious home cooked meal and were introduced to a new card game. The sit was easy and the view from their lovely home was spectacular. Our accommodation downstairs was very comfortable It is very rural but there are a few cute little towns around beside San Antonio riverwalk. Communication was good and they offered to let us stay the whole duration since they came home earlier than planned. A warm and embracing couple who are world travelers like ourselves.

Great House Sit
A very quiet and peaceful place with great views of the hills and sunsets. Nice pool easy to care for. Best dog ever; "Bear" is so sweet and fun to play with. Cats are also easy to care for. Hosts explained routines and expectations throughly. Plus they left detailed written instructions.

Great pets, great hosts, and great home!
I was fortunate to meet Gerard, Denise and their lovely pets. Gerard left detailed notes on how to care for the pets and the home which was very helpful. He was also responsive to any questions I had. Bear (the pup) is absolutely precious and well-trained. The outdoor cats are sweet and easy to care for since they are well, outdoor cats. The home is great-nice views, pool, spacious. The hosts are very kind, generous, and truly show their appreciation. I would be happy to visit Bear and friends in the future.

Amazing location and cutest puppy ever!
Gerard and Denise are kind, generous, fun, and thoughtful. They've created a resort-like property in the beautiful Texas Hill Country with what must be one of the most amazing views in the county. They're adorable puppy, Bear, was a joy to take care of. He's well on his way to being a exceptionally well-behaved dog; I wanted to take him home with me :) Bear and I didn't venture far from home since I enjoyed relaxing at Gerard and Denise's hilltop oasis so much, but there are a lot of fun places to explore within an hour's drive like Bandera, San Antonio, etc. It was a fun assignment.

Lovely Housesit in Texas
We had a wonderful time housesitting for Denise and Gerard! They are such a genuinely kind, caring and thoughtful couple. We arrived a day early and Denise and Gerard showed us around the area. They even cooked a lovely meal for us that we enjoyed together outside on the deck and then visited into the evening by the fire pit. They have a beautiful home with the most amazing Texas sunsets over Lake Medina! We took care of the daily maintenance of their pool and fed their cat, Kitty, twice a day. She went about her business during the day, but always showed up on the porch at mealtime! We also kept the feeders filled for the wild deer and birds that visited us throughout the day. Watching the constant flow of wildlife was better than TV! Their home with it’s many outdoor sitting areas was so relaxing! It was also a great home base to visit nearby towns such as Bandera, Boerne, San Antonio and Austin. If you have the chance to housesit for them, don’t pass it up!

Made us feel like Family!
Gerard and Denise are absolutely wonderful human beings! They made us feel like family and we are so glad to call them friends. They live in beautiful rural Texas Hill Country with likely one of the best views in the County. They introduced us to friends and neighbors, took us to local venues and community events and gave numerous recommendations on things to do to the area. This was very much appreciated as it is very rural - so peaceful - fabulous sunsets, spectacular night skies and the most restful, undisturbed sleep we've had in a long time. It was unfortunate that CoVid19 interrupted their international travel plans and we had to quarantine/social distance else we would have stayed longer. Beau is our new favorite dog! What a treasure! He loves his walks, loves to swim, loves to be in the same room with you - but is never demanding attention or petting. We absolutely love him and hated to leave. It was also difficult to leave Black, the "feral" cat (who wants attention)! She has the sweetest disposition, would follow us down the road on our daily walks and would wait for our return. We had every comfort and convenience in their beautiful home. Gerard provided full, detailed instructions and gave us contact info for vets, handymen, local resources, etc. Denise helped me find a local doctor for a check up, a hairdresser, nail salon, exercise class and offered her entire library of watercolor painting books. We hope to return again and Peter and Gerard can get in a second game of golf while Toni & Denise do some wine tasting!
