About this assignment
Animal loving responsible mature sitter(s) to take care of my house and animals. I am looking for someone with experience and references to look after my pets and house.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Looking after my 6 year old french bulldog a 7 year old chocolate labrador lovely quite dog and my 10 year old Spanish sheepdog who sleeps a lot and 1 very friendly cats. My dogs need feeding twice a day and a short walk daily the labrador could wal more if the sitter likes walking with company. My cat also requires feeding, there is a cat flap so he comes and goes as he wants. I also appreciate my house being kept clean and tidy.
What are the good features of the property and location
Pouance is a small and pretty medieval town. There is a supermarket, boulangerie, pharmacy , post office, bank, bars, restaurants and many other shops all within walking distance from the house. Just around the corner from the house is a stunning lake with beautiful walks. for those that like fishing a license is easily obtainable.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Please only apply if you have experience and references . A car is not a necessity unless you wish to sightsee further afield as all shops in walking distance

Wonderful animals, home and town
We looked after Nicole's cat Spike, two fish and two dogs Nikita and Moura for 7 weeks in August and September 2024 and had an absolutely wonderful time. Spike is such a character - he joined us for our 7am daily walks along the bike path and kept us amused with his dog-like antics. Mora is a gentle giant who melted our hearts with her caramel eyes and pawed us for pats and belly rubs. Nikita was a total sweetheart and loved joining us for a walk around the etang - especially if there were treats in our pockets! The town of Pouancé is small but very friendly and they have a great Thursday market, Thursday burger truck and the best crispy pizzas with adventurous toppings at the local Italian restaurant La Cravache d'Or. There's two etangs to walk around, and an endless rail trail too that takes you to the supermarket on foot in 15 minutes - super handy! The castle ruins have a lovely garden for catching the sunset or picnics and there's a chateau and fitness circuit running track about 15 mins walk from Nicoles house too. Thank you Nicole for letting us spend time in your lovely town with your beautiful animals!

I looked after Nicole's 2 dogs and 2 cats and a house with a charming garden for 6 weeks Sept-Oct 2023. Nicole's kindness charmed me from the first moment of meeting. I arrived one day before Nicole left. They took me around the whole area, showed me places to walk and introduced me to the people of the village. Both dogs are simply adorable. The serious big Mora guarded me as her guardian. The mobile Alfei went with me every day for long walks and even to the dog school. Where we were kindly taken and received by Nicole's girlfriends. The cats are also well behaved and very sweet. I had a lovely time in this region of France, meeting lovely English ladies and their pets. Thank you for this welcome and I hope to enjoy this hospitality again someday.

Lovely house-sit in Pouancé, France
We had a lovely time in France at Nicole's house. She has a very pleasant house with a well equiped kitchen and a warm comforting woodburner in the livingroom. The 2 dogs Alfie and Mora are such sweet animals. Despite the wet weather we had, we loved to walk the dogs around the lake and beautiful surrounding. They made us laugh every day with there habits. Both are easy to handle and understood our Dutch right away haha! They trusted us and gave us a lot of love in return. Spike the cat was always happy and found his own way around the house. Pouancé is a nice little town with supermarket in walking distance. A small market with fresh vegetables and fruit every Thursday. And beautiful cities we visited like Rennes, Nantes and Angers within an hour drive. Nicole, thank you for trusting us. Fabulous experience
We stayed with the dogs, cats, goats, chickens, ducks and fish for a month in February. We had a wonderful time staying in the character farmhouse, caring for these lovely animals. We were grateful for the opportunity to see a portion of France we would not have discovered ourselves. Nicole is a glorious host and welcomed us so warmly. We will stay in touch with her forever as I feel we are now friends. Nicole is expert at this, she has had many housesitters and is completely prepared with all the answers. She provided us with contacts of English speaking neighbors in case we had trouble with anything. It was as if we were part of the community. We loved our time at Le Jarrier.
