1-week house/catsit in NYC in early March!

About this assignment

Seeking short-term no-fee sitter to care for my kitties Jacques and Mingus in a beautiful Art Deco apartment in Washington Hgts, Manhattan for 1 week this March. Jacques prefers to share the space with only one person (vs. a couple) and he is partial to mature, quiet females. :)

You will need to meet with me in person in advance of the visit to get cat-care orientation, so local sitters might work out best. We can set up a Zoom call to start, but an in-person meeting at least 2-3 weeks before start date will be required.

Requesting non-smoker and non-partyer, who is familiar with taking care of cats.

Also, Jacques is partial to females and only single people, not couples. :)

We would love you to be a mature pet lover with references and resume/CV ; with any additional background checks or police reports a plus.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Easy daily medication regimen for Jacques (just add to food), kitties receive 3 meals a day, scoop litter box 2x day, and play. Water plants, pick up mail from lobby.

You: We look forward to meeting you! We ask that you be a non-smoker with references, and with a schedule where you can keep Jacques and Mingus company at least for a few hours every day. No partying, smoking, vaping, or drugging, and no overnight guests (unless discussed up front).

What are the good features of the property and location

This is a pleasant, lo-fuss housesit where you will have easy access to all of New York City! The subway is a 5-minute walk away.

We live in a great residential neighborhood right near the entrance of beautiful Fort Tryon Park. 10-minute walk to The Cloisters museum, views of the Hudson, and shopping nearby.

Our place: Clean, quiet, spacious 4th-floor elevator building. 2-BR apt in an historic and safe part of upper Manhattan. Citibike nearby. 30 minutes to Columbus Circle. Dishwasher, AC, laundry, HD TV (HBO, Netflix etc), good wifi. There is a king-sized bed and a lovely spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Also a grand piano, and you are free to play it!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Whoever applies, I do need you to meet with me in person in advance of the visit so local sitters will work out best, and will be considered with priority. We can set up a Zoom call to start, but an in-person meeting at least 2-3 weeks before start date will be required.

Understand that street parking in this neighborhood can sometimes be difficult. You may have to pay for a garage overnight. There is plenty of local public transportation, though - e.g. subway next to building that gets you into midtown quickly, buses, etc.
