About this assignment

We are looking for a couple who are honest, reliable and trustworthy and who love dogs and like walking!
We have Jett, a cocker spaniel who will be 2 in June 2025.

Jett is very lively and friendly. She loves long walks and is well behaved off the lead, where it is safe and there are no livestock. She is training to be a gundog and is trained to the whistle and loves hunting for balls.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Day to day care of Jett, including long walks, and general care of the house and garden. There are raised vegetable beds which may need watering.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a 2 bedroom bungalow in a small village, Kirkwhelpington, in Northumberland. There is a large south-west facing back garden with wonderful views of the countryside. Newcastle upon Tyne is 25 miles away, and there is a small town, Ponteland, with pubs and restaurants 13 miles away. There are also local villages with good pubs which serve food. There are no shops, pubs or restaurants in our village.
Newcastle International Airport is 15 miles away.
Northumberland is a beautiful location, with wonderful beaches, historic sites and friendly people!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Due to the rural location and extremely limited public transport, the house sitters would need to have a car. Retired couples are preferred.
Some gardening may be requested, for example grass cutting, however a sit on lawn mower is provided.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

Two beautifull dogs to look after, beautifull home. A lovely dinner was provided on arrival. We felt privilege have done the sit. A sit in the summer would be great to do there, close to Newcastle easy drive to Edinburgh.

Great couple, beautiful house, lovely dogs - a dream housesit

We recently completed a house sit for Jan and Nige and their dogs Skye and Murphy. You could not wish to meet a lovelier couple. They welcomed us into their home and took time to talk us through the dogs' routine and left detailed notes on the running of the house. The property is beautiful, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable, with a nice guest room with en suite shower room Skye and Murphy are lovely dogs, great fun, very affectionate and they love playing in the large garden and being walked in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Many thanks to Jan and Nige for a great stay.

Kirkwhelpington

This is a lovely house in the heart of Northumberland with views over the countryside. The two dogs are good company and there is a pleasant largely traffic-free walk along a track to Wallington Hall, a National Trust property. The absence of light pollution makes star gazing possible.

Wonderful Housesit

We sat for Jan and Nigel, for three months while they were off working. We took care of Skye and Murphy, two wonderful and friendly dogs. Jan and Nigel couldn't have been more friendly or welcoming. They returned at one point in between jobs, and we got to spend some extra time with them. They are a great couple. The house itself, is wonderful, with views over the pasture, where the sheep would graze. There were a lot of places to visit, and wonderful places to take the dogs for their walks. They are sweet dogs. I highly recommend owners and doggies. You will have a wonderful time.
