The house is a charming old French farmhouse. There are 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a big open plan sitting room (with log burner) and kitchen , separate dining room and 3 terraces (one with outside kitchen, gas BBQ and pizza oven). There is also a 9m x 4m swimming pool (not in use in winter). The house also has wireless internet.
The garden is well established and there is an additional 11 acres of space with a large pond and beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.
We are on the outskirts of small village which has a bar/restaurant and small grocery shop and near to another village (5 minutes drive) where you have a boulangerie, tabac and more restaurants.
Location is the village of Puymiclan in Lot-et-Garonne. The nearest town (Marmande) is approximately 10 minutes drive and has a number of good supermarkets, restaurants and bars.
The area is typically rural France but has good links to the motorway system and rail network and is close to Bergerac and Bordeaux airports.
Your own car would be required.
Must be able to drive.
Must be good with animals.
Must be able to maintain the garden and pool.
We are looking for sitters to cover the period mid June to mid July 2025 - our dates and plans are a little flexible.
Ideally suited to a couple. References must be available.
No, sorry.

Counting sheep
Every thing you need and so much more in terms of kindness/humor/help from the owners and the joy of three cats, one dog and sheep. I even managed or learned how to gather them in when they escaped. Stand strong and make some noise ;-) The views, the tranquility and easy access to the whole beautiful area made it a lovely long time stay even during rains, fogs that stayed for days but then the sun came out, WAUW. I would have loved, if a bar/small store had been a bite closer, as I walk to anything (had a car, just want to leave it standing as much as possible) because I absolutely love to meet the locals. I will definitely like to stay once more - when my work life allows it.

House-sit in Chauffour south-west France
The farm is in a beautiful location with amazing views and a great pool. Adorable pets, and the sheep were very self-sufficient and easy to look after. Wendy & Andy gave good instructions, as well as all necessary contact numbers in case of emergency or problems. They also arranged for friends to meet us there, a lovely couple who were very helpful in showing us around. There are some great restaurants & bistro’s in the area, lots of lovely villages with local shops as well as supermarkets where you can get a real taste of French rural life, yet Bordeaux or Bergerac is within easy driving distance. We would thoroughly recommend this house-sit to others.
