We have two horses, two ponies and two pigs. The larger animals live out all the time, so no stables etc., to clean. Dogs can be walked on our own land.
Experience and responsibility in looking after a variety of animals is necessary. Your own car will be required as we are in a rural location.
Feeding, watering and checking a variety of animals, walking dogs (on our own land,) plus letting out and shutting up chickens morning and evening.
Lovely, comfortable house in a beautiful, rural location. The house is a recently converted barn with log burner and guest room with en-suite for house sitters.
We have no near neighbours, so it is a very rural location. Nearest shops are 8 km away. We have two horses and two ponies, but they live out all the time and can be fed and watered from outside their fields, so no experience is necessary with larger animals. (We have friends nearby who will come and deal with any issues concerning the animals.)
No, sorry.

What joy we discovered.....
We had the most amazing time at Dawn and Andrew's piece of paradise. What made our stay so special was the joy we experienced in the company of all the animals, with special attention given to us by Tache and Poppy,(the best ball team on fours). These two dogs are so perceptive, fun to play with and full of character; they endeared themselves to us from the first day. Pierre and Odille, the gorgeous cats became part of our inner circle as we took time to enjoy the tranquility on the terrace. We enjoyed feed the hens and appreciated the gift of the fresh eggs from them. The bantams took care of themselves mostly as they roamed the rear garden and so did the ponies, horses and cows. We walked around the property daily to check on their water and just seeing the cows and horses in the fields gave us a warm glowing feeling. Lastly but by no means the least, the pigs and guinea pigs were fascinating to observe. How enriching our lives have become, just getting to know all these beautiful souls. Dawn and Andrew are both warm and gracious individuals. They showed us around their lovely home, made us feel at ease and shared a hearty meal with us before leaving. You are both very special people with big hearts to care and to love all these animals unconditionally. We thank you profoundly for trusting us and giving us this amazing experience. We look forward to our next visit.

Warm and cosy barn conversion, complete with wonderful animals, in the gorgeous Dordogne countryside
My short sit in this secluded and peaceful property has just come to an end, and I will certainly miss my numerous animal charges, who gave me no problems whatsoever. Dawn and Andrew were most welcoming, not only inviting me to join them at lunch, but postponing it by about an hour so that I could make it… Then, having shown me around and filled me in on all the important details, they also invited me to join them in their delicious evening meal the night I arrived. There being separate holiday (gite) accommodation, they are quite used to having guests... and to ensuring they are made comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy and there was plenty of room to be able to unpack and make myself at home. There are some lovely villages to visit around and about, but for the most part, I just enjoyed their lovely small holding. The 2 dogs (Tache and Poppy) were no trouble, such fun and great companions; the 2 cats were always around and calm, (I’m still not sure how they manage to get into the closed family bathroom); the horses, ponies, cows and pigs did everything they should and nothing they shouldn’t; the rabbits (this is the first time I’ve cared for these) were charming, and have such soft fur! And the myriad chickens kept me amply supplied with fresh eggs. Thank you, Dawn and Andrew, for allowing me to enjoy your lovely house and fabulous views, along with such an array of animal companionship.
