The fish are in a small pond and need feeding once a day.
This house-sit would ideally suit a couple who love peace and quiet. It would be a definite bonus if you have your own transport, but if not we may be able to arrange use of our car (as long as you are over 25 and have a valid licence) while you are here.
The main responsibility is watering and looking after the garden, which takes around an hour every evening. Therefore we would prefer house-sitters with some experience of and love for gardening. We don’t have pets but there is a small pond with fish. Feeding them is a very simple task.
The house is spacious and comfortable, and the garden is on three levels with steps between them. There are beautiful mountain views from the house. We have an excellent internet connection. The local village, 2 kms away, has a bar (open all year) and a swimming pool (open in July and August) but no shop. We live in old, rural south-east Spain in a small hamlet tucked away in the hills, but only 8 minutes from the motorway. It is just a 30 minute drive to the beautiful beaches and stunning scenery of the Cabo de Gata Natural Park and Mojácar, and two hours from Granada and many other attractions.
You should be aware that it does get very hot here in the summer. We do have plenty of outside shade and also air-conditioning in the living room/kitchen and the main bedroom. Also note that it is not possible to be here without transport (see above).
No, sorry.
Testimonials
Conscientious and well prepared
Kevin and Troy are delightful home owners. They are very organized and very thorough communicators. Even before we arrived, we had received a guide to the house and garden that included every detail we needed to be able to have a smooth house sit. On our first day there, they showed us around to see where the shopping and market were, and introduced us to some of their friends. The house is beautiful and well equipped. It sits on a hill, amid olive groves, with a lovely breeze and almost 360 degree views of the Spanish desert. It's a very private property and has terraces with flowers, trees and garden. The main job for us as summer house sitters, was to water the garden and trees. We appreciated that Kevin and Troy are conscientious about the environment and yet they have a modern home with all the conveniences you'd expect. The nearby village has a significant presence of English-speaking expats as well as a tight knit community of Spaniards that grew up in that area. We felt welcome by both groups from the beginning. Cloud, the cat, is just there and couldn’t be easier to take care of. She’s perfectly happy with food, water and shade. We had a pleasant experience in La Rondeña and as a bonus we were able to discover nearby villages and beaches.
