Pet and plant loving responsible, trustworthy adult (couples or friend duos welcome). Our 2/1 house with yard, casita & art studio is located in the El Cerrito area.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
We have 2 cats and 2 dogs. Our older cat, Penny, is super sweet. She is cuddly and WILL want to sit in your lap. She loves to chase the sunlight in an open window or our backyard. Our younger cat, Squid, is more standoff-ish but she’s very playful and sweet when she warms up to you. Knox, our Eskipoo, is a little rascal and love getting pets. Ziggy is a 4 year old German Shepherd Poddle mix that we rescued a few months ago. She is a bit more neurotic (she’s afraid of the dark) but she’s very sweet and well behaved. She LOVES her morning. They eats once at day at night. Overall, they are very easy pets. We also have outdoor plants that require watering.
What are the good features of the property and location
The house is a 2/1. One of the bedroom is an office w/o bed. We have a king sized bed in the primary room. There is a casita in the backyard (no bathroom) for guests with two twin beds or can be pushed together for king. It is attached to an artist studio. The house is clean and gets a lot of natural light. We are on top of hill so we get a nice breeze and a beautiful sunset view of the mountains from the kitchen sink. The backyard has a daybed with umbrella and two sun-bedding loungers. Plants would need to be water once or twice a week (depending on weather). Our neighborhood is central located and neighbors are friendly.
We live in El Cerrito. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. Downtown and the airport are 18 minutes away. Most beaches are within 17-25 min drive.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Obviously if you are allergic to cats or dogs, do not apply. Willing to water plants. We are open to you bringing your dog as long as they are cat friendly. We are also open to you having guests stay over in the casita as long as everyone is respectful of the noice levels at night. We really like our neighbors and we wants to keep it that way. :-)

Meeting Jess and John was a great experience, not only are they both exceptionally nice and full of enthusiasm and information, the way they have decorated their apartment is wonderful. They had so many things that I could relate to, 12in records from the 60’s, and many interesting books and pictures also from that era. I loved the pets, Knox, full of life, running around with his toys, Elle chilling out under the bed, both of them loved their walks, and Penny Lane, a magical cat, who had the ability to become invisible, (she actually had secret hiding places which she would emerge from when she was ready, but I could never find them). There a nice restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance, and the 801 bus, going straight downtown, is only a 10 minute walk away. I had a really nice time, and so will you if you sit for Jess, John and the crew.

Fun housesit!
Jessica and John have created a gorgeous little home for themselves in their studio apartment in the North Loop section of Austin. Neat, clean, and tastefully decorated with vintage finds, it was a nice spot to enjoy a few days getting to know this very cool neighborhood. Both pups and their cat are adorable, well-behaved, and easy to take care of.
