Felix is on a diet so Oscar's food is given in a feeder only he can activate. On walks Nala stays on a lead or long training lead.
Looking for a caring and responsible housesitter to look after our dog Nala and our cats Oscar and Felix for four days, three nights in June in north London, Barnet, close to convenient transport into central London. If there's time, we'd like to do a handover with the house-sitter before we go.
Main duties involve feeding the animals and changing their water, walking Nala every day and generally making sure the property is looked after while we're away. You will need to be at the property every night so the house is occupied (and please make sure all doors and windows are locked when going out!)
Nala is our rescue dog, a Romanian shepherd cross, and is Golden Retriever size but has a lovely gentle temperament with people. She loves her food, is happy sleeping on the sofa or bed and has at least one long walk a day or two shorter ones. She can be left alone for a few hours if you want to go out and explore.
Ideally we’d like to do a handover if there's time so we can show you the ropes, how best to handle Nala on walks which is straightforward in case she reacts to other dogs - just some brief barking sometimes if it's the first dog she meets on the walk, or if one surprises her / runs up to her suddenly, but she is usually fine. We just have a simple technique on walks so she doesn't react.
Our lovely cats Oscar and Felix are brothers who love strokes when they get to know you. They might hide initially until they get used to you. They like playing, curling up on the bed at night or keeping you company in the garden. Felix is the greedy one and will usually find you when it’s nearly feeding time.
We live in north London, Barnet, close to plenty of green open spaces, local parks and various walks, as well as local shops and cafes, with convenient transport into central London, including the tube a few minutes walk away. We're in the process of gradually renovating the house and the garden space is more or less completed now so is a lovely place to sit out and enjoy when the sun is out. The cats will probably join you outside. There is access to wifi and TV streaming, kitchen and bathroom, plus you'll have a bedroom with double bed.
1. Ideally you can provide sitting references and / or a DBS check if you have it with a copy of ID prior to starting.
2.We'd like to do a handover, so would prefer you to meet us before we go away on the day or another day to suit beforehand, to run through what needs doing with Nala, and see where everything is and how it all works.
3. You're happy to give us a daily update with pix if possible, to let me know everything is OK and pets are doing fine, so I don't have to worry:)
No, sorry.

Two quiet cats and a nice garden in Greater London
I had the pleasure to meet Sue and Marlon and care for Oscar and Felix in August. Sue explained everything I needed to know about the cats, house and neighbourhood before they left. The cats were very shy at the beginning but soon at least Oscar got quite confident and loved cuddling. I very much enjoyed sunbathing in the garden or the nearby park and also exploring the countryside either cycling or walking on the many paths around the area. The bus stop and the train station are just a short walk from the house making it pretty easy to visit London city. Altogether a very pleasant experience, thanks a lot Sue!
