About this assignment

We are looking for a responsible, non-smoking, active couple that loves animals and is comfortable living in a rural environment to look after our two older horses, two dogs and our home while we are away.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Responsibilities would be to care for our two horses who will need their daily medications (easy, just a pill each with their breakfast) and two daily feedings, our 4year old dogs, Zeehna the Anatolian Shepard and Chloe the lab mix and our home. The dogs are used to someone being here most of the time and we would hope our house sitters would be here more than not. The dogs are inside and outside and sleep inside every night. Also we would hope the house would be kept as clean as possible and the sitter would be able to take care of any emergencies that may pop up.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live on 5 ½ acres at the base of Palomar Mountain. The property is quiet and peaceful with lots of oak trees, wildlife and stars. The house is a cozy two bedroom with 3 full baths. San Diego and beaches are about and hour and a half drive. There are several pretty good hiking trails within 30 -45 minutes. Anza Borrego Desert State Park is one hour drive.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

House sitters would need to feel comfortable living in a rural area. We live on a dirt road. It’s very dark at night. We are at 2600’ elevation so it is much cooler up here than down the hill in San Diego. There is a market within 15 minutes, a taco shop within 10 minutes but most shopping is a 45 minute drive into town. A vehicle will be necessary. The house has a propane heater but we mostly heat with a wood stove.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
