About this assignment
We want someone to care for our dog . She is a sweetheart but feels a need to alert us to "others" who come to the door:) . Take her for a walk a couple times daily and be around during the day and spend the night in the house . We leave her alone (no crate in use .
We also need feeding for 3 canaries daily . Dates March 12- March 18 2025
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The dog needs one morning and one evening walk. . She gets fed twice a day nothing fancy just food . Canary care is once a day with clean food water and veggies. We also feed outdoor birds and will provide food and directions .. Sitter is not required to be in the home all day but not gone all day and spending the night. Specified because we HAD a sitter who did not. We understand this to be the position.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our home is in a desirable neighborhood with LOTS of walk options nearby. We are about 2 miles to Plum island Beach (where dogs are allowed only until May 1.) Will not yet take her there ) The Plum Island Parker River National Wildlife Refuge is there also dogs NEVER allowed there even in a car. We are a mile to downtown Newburyport with LOTS of dining options and shopping. 3 miles away is Maudslay State Park with MILES of trails . Plenty of outdoor stuff to do here.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The dog is need of belly rubs as long as you have time and inclination but she is fine if she gets the message that its not the time Very strong on a leash so when walking be prepared for a rogue squirrel:) Poop bags and pouches nearby for pickup. Canary morning easy duty with direction sheet provided.

Terrific Pup and Canaries
We really enjoyed caring for Gidget - a very friendly dog. She loves to be petted, and will let you know it! She is pretty strong, and can pull a bit on the leash, but is really quite obedient. And the canaries are interesting - I only wish they sang more! Linda provided detailed instructions, so everything was easy.
