About this assignment
We are looking for a cat loving person, who loves to be around and take care of our beloved family members! Our kittens (4 Norwegian forest cats) are used to have at least one person at home as I am usually working from home. They love to interact with us and the sitter. Out furry family members are between 3 and 6 years old. All are fit and healthy and love to play, to be around the people and "talk" to them. They can go out in the garden which is completely protected by a fence.
One of the cats needs to be hand fed as she was severally ill and since then she needs this way of feeding. Our youngest one is used to get white mice to eat so this would be something to consider to be able to take the mice out of the freezer and give them to him.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
To take care of our family members and take care of our house (no cleaning) just appreciate the way we live. We do travel a lot and this can be seen at our home which we like to take good care of. We are looking for somebody who is tidy and responsible. And for this sit, we are also looking for somebody who doesn't want to have a New Year party at home.
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in the countryside, a small village of 200 inhabitants. Still it takes you only 30 minutes by car or by train to go to Basel and only about 10 minutes by car to get to the next bigger village Frick. You have the house for your own, if you love to have it quite, peaceful and like to enjoy time by yourself we live at the exactly right spot for you. There are many fields to go for nice walks just around the house. A driving license is needed. There is a possibility to use my car.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
For us it is important that you like to stay outside of the huzzel and buzzle and that you like to have the four kittens around. They are allowed to go everywhere in the house. the youngest one sleeps with me in my bed most of the times. For us it is important that you love to spend time at home, going out for walks but not spending full days away from home

An exceptional sit
I was given the opportunity to sit for Gabriela and Thierry. I knew by the pictures and videos we had exchanged that this was going to be a great experience.. their cats (I use the term lightly) are much like small children each with their own little quirks.. absolutely beautiful and playful such a pleasure to watch them. Their home and yard is "zen" like a beautiful oasis in a small peaceful mountain paradise. I so enjoyed my time spent there I will hopefully make it back again if not I would highly recommend it for anyone who is lucky enough to get the opportunity

Wonderful meeting with people and 4 cats
Gabriela and Thierry and their 4 cats are simply fantastic!!! I was in a fairy tale. It feels like we've known each other all our lives. Brilliant, humane and soulfully beautiful all together. And how beautiful, graceful, independent, but at the same time friendly cats. I would love to take care of these beauties in the future when my help is needed. Good luck to everyone!

Swiss cat's heaven
Never have I felt so resonating with a house ... the abundance of light, the colours, the art, the travels, the presence of the ocean, the views all around, the quietness and all those wonderful images from the adventures of Gabriela and Thierry, who are divers (among others). Surrounded by a beautiful garden with pond and blossoming trees, and rolling bright green hills. It's like being part of a living painting ... At night when all the special lights go on in house and garden the place becomes enchanting ! I felt I didn't have to go anywhere else, as a little heaven has been created, perfect for meditation and yoga. This extraordinary place is inhabited by 4 delightful Norwegian Forest cats, boy (white) Elijah and girls (black) Farah, (tiger) Fidji and (turtle) Chiara. Elijah and Chiara have special diets, and as Chiara is highly sensitive she eats out of hand - by fingers - only in strict privacy. Although she connected to me the very first evening it's difficult for her to be without her mum and the first week was a bit worrisome since she ate only little bites, but with lots of attention I managed to feed her and keep her in good condition. I understood she doesn't want to eat when another cat is around. Elijah is a truly lovely boy, always in good mood with big appetite, and Fidji and Farah are easy going, but particular. They are all young, pure and innocent, and social, talking via high tone sounds, so cute. Only Farah is more reserved but became affectionate as well after five days. So it was such a lovely experience being here with them, at the edge of a tiny village in a small valley only 5 min away by car (that was available) from the historical town Laufenburg at the River Rhine (beautifully located), with a Swiss and German part, and all the German supermarkets near the railway station East. Not far from Basel and Basel/Mulhouse airport. Therefore close to all the world has to offer and yet in a charming peaceful landscape that offers nice walks from the doorstep. The owners were easy to communicate with, kind, generous and welcoming. What more can one ask for ? Thank you Gabriela and Thierry for entrusting me your 4 precious sweet babies and house that reflects fulfilled dreams ! I felt priviliged.

Sit vom 31.07 – 12.08.2021
Gabriela und Thierry sind wundervolle Menschen. Gabriela hat mich am Bahnhof abgeholt, hat mir ihr schönes Haus und Garten gezeigt. Vorgängig konnte ich ihnen meine Einkaufsliste senden, sie haben dann für mich eingekauft, so dass ich für die ersten Tage schon versorgt war. Ganz herzlichen Dank dafür. Ich lernte ihre 4 Katzen kennen und bekam sehr gute Erklärungen zum Tagesablauf und Gewohnheiten ihrer Lieblinge. Was für schöne und liebenswürdige Katzen mir hier anvertraut wurden, wurde mir mit jedem Tag bewusster. Es war für mich eine grosse Freude ihnen beim spielen zuzusehen. Sie beschenkten mich mit so viel Liebe und Freude. Ich habe die Zeit sehr genossen. Die Kommunikation vor und während dem Sit war super, wir hatten täglichen Kontakt. Auch nach ihrer Rückkehr hatten wir mehrere schöne und erzählreiche Stunden zusammen, bevor sie mich wieder zum Bahnhof brachten und mir den Koffer sogar bis vor die Zugtüre brachten. Gabriela und Thierry es war ein grosses Vergnügen euch kennenzulernen und vielen Dank das ihr mir euer schönes Haus und eure wundervollen Katzen anvertraut habt. Ich freue mich schon auf die nächsten Sits bei euch, welche wir schon vereinbart haben. Diesen Sit kann ich wärmstens empfehlen und ich komme gerne wieder.
