About this assignment

We are looking for a reliable sitter who has experience with horses and cats, either a single person or a couple (non-smokers). Someone who is comfortable with giving medication to one of the horses (similar to giving a wormer). The horse is used to it and very cooperative.
Someone who is able to recognise when an animal is unwell, for example recognising signs of colic in a horse.
All our animals are friendly and easy to handle.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The horses need hay in hay nets five times a day and water once a day. One of the horses needs medication once a day. Removing manure from the stables and putting in some fresh straw once a day. The horses do not need to be locked up in the stables. They can walk in and out as they please.
Cats need feeding a couple of times a day.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our cottage lies in the country side, close to the river Boyne, with a lovely view of the Boyne valley with sheep and cattle. For more information about things to do in the area please visit:
https://www.discoverboynevalley.ie
The property has fibre broadband internet and good mobile phone coverage.
It's a five minute drive to the nearest village with some shops. Larger supermarkets are 15 minutes by car. Trim is 20 minutes by car.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Having your own transport is essential as there is only very limited public transport. Our horses cannot be ridden. Please be aware that in all it is quite a bit of work (approx. 2 hours a day). However, the feeding times are flexible so there should be plenty of time for trips.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
