About this assignment
We are needing a responsible pet sitter who loves cats. Our Katycat is 21 years old so we can no longer take her with us on visits to the US. She is still pretty spry and healthy. She doesn't take any meds, but has kidney disease so needs to eat renal food and drink water frequently.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Katy is a fairly needy girl. She likes a lot of attention and love. She can be high maintenance--she wakes up early and wants to be fed wet food, she likes to sit on your lap and get petted but sometimes it takes some coaxing. She also sleeps A LOT! She is a very picky eater so we have to give her a little bit of canned food a few times per day. She is very sweet and polite and needs some coaxing to warm up.
What are the good features of the property and location
Playa del Carmen is an amazing place! We live here full time in a gated community called Corosol in Nick Price Residences. https://mareazulrealestate.com/nick-price-residences/ It is about a mile from the beach club and 10 minutes into the center of Playa del Carmen.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Once we set this up with someone, we cannot change the dates as we have bought airfare and rented a place in KC. We will want someone who is OK with checking in daily with cute pics of Katy. :)

Peaceful getaway with a senior feline friend
Shari is a lovely host, with a lovely cat. She told us everything we needed to know in advance and even spent her pre-vacation time showing us around town before she left us to care for her cat. Katy is an older kitty that sleeps a lot but regularly patrols the house, and might only want to interact occasionally to sit on your lap while you work or read or watch TV. She's definitely not a cuddler, and doesn't like being brushed or teased. But once you figure out her language she's really sweet. The condo is clean and spacious and has all the modern comforts you need; full kitchen incl. microwave, bathrooms in each bedroom with A/C, laundry facilities with lots of sheets & towels, etc. We didn't need anything other than groceries while we here, and Shari even left us some of those too. We enjoyed a very tranquil time here inside a secure complex with a pool, far enough away from the touristy chaos that Playa del Carmen offers with its vibrant nightlife. Trips into town are a short drive or taxi ride away, and you can have food groceries delivered via Rappi/UberEats pretty easily. There's a small grocery store at the Royal Haciendas hotel a short walk away, where you can also catch rides to most of the local attractions in Quintana Roo like Chichen Itza and the snorkel tours and water parks. 10/10, would housesit again

Most amazing pet sit, stunning location and incredibly kind owners.
Our stay at Shari's house with Katy in Playa was nothing short of fantastic. Our pre-sit arrangements made us very comfortable and sure of the trip. Shari was super responsive and answered all of our questions, as well as giving us great recommendations on places to go to while we're in Playa. Once we arrived, we were greeted with a plate of tacos :) Her home is lovely, clean and well-equipped. Katycat was a lovely companion as well. She's an incredibly sweet kitty, very affectionate and cuddly. She spends most of her days sleeping, so she's very low maintenance. We had the misfortune of having to call a vet while we were there, but Shari was again very responsive, gave us all the info we needed and was very kind through this difficult experience. Fortunately Katy started feeling much better and she didn't leave our side, she followed us around the house and sat on the couch with us:) Then once it was time to leave, we were very sad to say bye to Katy. She even put her paws on Will's lap so that we wouldn't leave :( Overall - it was an amazing experience to meet Shari, Kris and Katy. They're all incredible and we wouldn't hesitate to come back and recommend them to everyone.
