About this assignment

MUST HAVE YOUR OWN TRANSPORTATION.

Quiet household in RURAL Northern Utah needing water the plants, mind the house. One person or an established couple (not just friends) that is/are experienced with great testimonials. Non-smoking household. There have been cats and dogs in this house, but none currently.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Water plants, keep home secure and clean. We have maybe two big snowstorms each winter that will require snow shoveling of a large driveway. (It can take me 3 hours.) so, must be willing and able to do this.

What are the good features of the property and location

Lots of outdoor recreation in area and 1/2 mile to Hot Springs. Ski Resorts 1 to 2 hours away are: Snowbasin, Park City Mountain, Alta, Brighton, Snowbird. This property is my dream home. It is a 2018 built home with 4 br and 3.5 baths with everything maintained and in working order. You will have garage parking for up to 2 vehicles. You will have the Mother-in-Law area with a full-size bed, kitchen and laundry, and cozy living room with gas fireplace. There is a sauna, home gym with treadmill, rower, and smaller dumbbells and kettlebells. Yoga mat and foam roller. The jacuzzi is in the backyard and is newer and easy to care for weekly if you want to use it (or else I'll need to drain it). The best part is, 1/2 mile down the road is Crystal Hot Springs, a natural hot springs that boasts superb mineral qualities. (crystalhotsprings.net). Grocery stores and restaurants are in Brigham City which is 10 miles to the South. The movie theatre is in Perry, approx 15 miles to the South. I can arrange for cable at an extra cost, but there is antenna tv, Netflix, and WIFI. (WIFI has been reliable for me.) Airports are Ogden (30 min away) or SLC (1 hr away). This is a RURAL town and very quiet. There will be roosters crowing in the morning and horses, sheep, goats to see in the neighbors yards. A train will be heard each day as it travels through town and is visible from the back deck. The area has lots of hiking, cycling, boating opportunities. Willard Bay is not far away for a sunset view over the Great Salt Lake. There is abundant outdoor recreation opportunities with hiking and cycling. Crystal Hot Springs sells punch passes at a reasonable cost and is open year-round. Emergency services/rural hospital is 10 miles away. 911 service goes to the County Sheriff. Great neighbors. Noise ordinance for town.

Some flexibility is available to overlap my our mutual departure/arrival dates as the entire basement is a separate living quarters.

This is basically a very 'easy gig'... no pets, just plants to water weekly and occasional snow removal as mentioned. Minimum 30 days and will consider a month at a time housesitter or full 3 months. Basically, this would be a very nice get-away from the world.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This is a rural location with no public transportation, so you will need to bring your own transportation. I would like to maintain the quiet nature of my home as respect for neighbors. The home is not suitable for children (because of jacuzzi and sauna). Since you will have access to all of my 'stuff' I ask that no guests, family, or friends visit. I love animals, but do not allow guest pets due to past damage. The home has stairs and risk associated with using jacuzzi, sauna, and gym equipment, therefore a liability waiver will need to be signed. I will be UN-available for much of the time away, however have family and friends in the area that can be readily contacted. Some security cameras that will be pointed outward and need to remain in place during stay. Absolutely no smoking (even outside) and zero tolerance for drug use, even medicinal marijuana.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Great quiet easy setting

Julie's house is cozy, spacious and easy to take care of. If you like peace and quiet, this gig is for you! Also, I've enjoyed mowing the porperty with John Deere, and taking care of the sweet cat, Sagwa. Julie is a great human being and will make sure you are comfortable.

Julie and Sagwa - Just Delightful!

I have known Julie for 8-1/2 years, both as a coworker and a dear friend, and have had the privilege of being a guest in her home numerous times. I can definitely recommend her as a kind, caring, generous, compassionate and gracious person. Her new house is a lovingly furnished dream home come true, with amenities like a sauna, well-tended garden and hot tub. Sagwa is an older Siamese and a joy to care for, low maintenance and loveable once he gets to know you. I haven't house sat for Julie and Sagwa yet, but only because I have never been available when she needed a caretaker. If you are looking for a clean, spacious house to mind with bonus features and a great safe location in the country; a delightful cat to care for and a friendly, careful, organized, marvelous, helpful hostess who will leave good detailed instructions and keep in touch, this is the assignment for you. Rural Northern Utah is quiet, peaceful, and a joy esp. in autumn. The house is close to a National Migratory Waterfowl Refuge and a delightful hot spring, while being near enough to a big city for shopping and restaurants. A sweet house sit to be sure! :)
