About this assignment

We are looking for a NON-SMOKING, reliable, caring and trustworthy couple or solo who can enjoy our property as much as we do. We take pride in what we've accomplished regarding our house and garden over the last years. We require our house sitters to have the same respect as we do and manage and care for our property as if it were their own.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We require our house sitter to manage the chickens including cleaning the coop daily. Our 2 cats, Milly & Caramel, rescued sisters have automatic access to the outdoors through a cat door. Everyday you will need to check and remove any ticks from them. Our garden is our pride and joy especially in the summer. It will require watering daily (30mins) and general weeding etc. It usually takes 1hr to mow. You will need to have good strength to push it up the hillside and carry the grass catcher to the compost.
Maintaining the house inside and being mindful of your consumption is equally as important. I have many indoor plants to attend to as well.
We recycle everything in Switzerland and you will need to drive to the center to manage the recycling if there is quantity.

What are the good features of the property and location

We are located in a small village 25mins drive from Lausanne between Lake Leman and Lake Neuchâtel. There is a convenience store, a climbing wall with small bar/restaurant, many walking tracks and a great lookout point over the alps. We are 10mins drive to the bigger supermarkets and train station. We have a very good internet connection.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We require a full 6 weeks over the European summer vacation! Having a car or drivers license will be a plus but not necessary as public transport is hourly by bus from our village to Lausanne.
Our house is positioned on a slope so you will need to have good strength to push the lawn mower in areas.
**Our house sitter needs to understand that social media postings about our property and privacy are strictly prohibited. We are private people. We do not want external parties visiting unless otherwise consented.
We have successfully found a sitter from this site and she has returned many times to help us over the years.
