Otis seeking house-sitter for a summer siesta in New England

About this assignment

Seeking a house sitter who is neat, clean, and conscientious with both things and pets! Seeking mature and responsible single or couples who are interested in caretaking while I travel to visit with clients and run races this coming winter and spring.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Taking care of a dog, watering plants, and keeping things tidy and clean. Starting vehicle and ensure that the battery does not die! Other than that, leave the place as you found it and enjoy your stay.

What are the good features of the property and location

Across the street from Buttonwood Park in New Bedford, central and within walking distance to grocery stores, pharmacies, and restaurants. Right off the highway and a great launching point to experience all of New England in spring.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Must have excellent references, testimonials, and a police check to apply. All candidates will be interviewed via Zoom.

We enjoyed our short housesit in Robin's traditional New England home. Robin was an excellent communicator from the get go. Robin was super kind and overwhelmingly generous in making us feel welcome and comfortable. Robin is such a wonderful lady. We hope to have made a new friend. :)

Gismo the indoor elderly cat is adorable old boy who talks a lot. Loves lots of cuddles. Brushed daily. Otis the rescue pup, is a recent family addition. Otis is a sweet, quiet, undemanding, and nervous. He is still adjusting to living a normal indoor and outdoor life. He is great on the leash. He knows when and where to toilet. We were mindful of his nervousness, so made sure we were sensitive, quiet with calm around the house. We walked Otis around the park mostly. He sleeps under the bed quietly.

The house is Super clean and tidy, a cosy kitchen and a cosy, spacious lounge. We, as Brits, appreciated the Kettle!! The A/C stopped working before our arrival. Robin immediately addressed this with Contractors working around the clock to complete installation of a new system in time. We truly appreciated the care Robin has for her sitters' comfort. Robin does not use the TV /have Cable. We do like to watch Movies, so we gifted a tekky device to enable casting of Apps (eg YouTube, Netflix) via a tablet/iPad, to the TV :) We enjoyed using the home Gym every day! Use of Robin's home office is also, kindly available if needed. Sitters have the use of the cosy guest room, clean linen and towels provided. Great mattress! Space was made for our stuff.

We had poor weather for 2 days, so We stayed around the house to happily keep the pets company. Shaws supermarket, CVS and Wallgreens is within easy walking distance. Downton is 2 miles away.

Robin was using her car on this occasion. We used Uber and the local bus to downtown -close to all things central. At the Waterfront we recommend a Clam Bar and Mirasols Cafe. We recommend visiting Clarks Cove at NB West Beach (3-4 miles). A nice waterfront area. Cove Walk, a promenade, leads past the Cool, gentrified Kilburn Mill, now eatery, roof top bar, artist gallery and more. There are a couple of Breweries downtown too. We highly recommend Ciscos. Entertainment and tours do appear to be strictly seasonal.

Recommended for a comfortable, quiet, easy petsit in this interesting historical harbour town. Robin is a perfect host.

Otis and Gizmo, both so adorable and both so different. Gizmo was instantly my best friend, and I loved every second of it. Otis was the best little supervisor anyone could ask for! He was very happy to hang out near me and observe. Robin’s home is located right off the highway and across from a beautiful park. The neighborhood is adorable and safe. I greatly appreciated how comfortable, spacious, and immaculate her home is. I enjoyed sitting outside, walking the park, visiting the beach, whale museum, and seeing a local comedy improve group during my stay. Robin is very communicative and went out of her way to make me feel welcomed and supported. I highly recommend this house sit!

Robin is a joy to sit for. She communicates very clearly leading into a sit and has detailed instructions to refer to once at her house. Her house is impeccably clean and easy to navigate. The pets are easy to care for, parking is super convenient and there is a lovely park just across the street which is a great place to walk..

This was an excellent sit! Robin was incredibly communicative and kind. She left detailed instructions, as well as little gift cards for me. Both Otis and Gizmo were loving and responsive. Otis was a new addition to the home but warmed up to me quickly. I usually just take care of cats but after sitting for Otis, I thought "I really like dogs!" He was such a good boy. The house was clean, well-stocked. Robin went out of her way to put food that I liked in her fridge! Her home was in a great location to explore the water, and neat towns nearby. I highly recommend this sit! Thank you, Robin, for entrusting me with your home and furry beloveds!
