About this assignment
We are looking for 1 person to take care of our house and cats while we're away from December 23rd until the 28th. You should have prior experience with caring for cats. We need someone who can commit to keeping our plants and cats happy. Non-smokers, and no excessive substance/alcohol users.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
We will ask you to water the plants, feed, and play with our cats minimum twice a day. We still keep our cats separate for now since they are going through a long introduction process. They each occupy one floor of the house (our resident cat being mostly upstairs and the new cat being mostly downstairs). Kichu is a Bengal cat that's very vocal, needs a lot of attention and company.
What are the good features of the property and location
It's a truly beautiful, newly renovated house built at the beginning of the 20th century. A quiet neighborhood, with a wonderful big park just across the street, close to the center of Ostend, and only a 10-minute walk to the beach. 13 minutes by train to stunning Brugge.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
It's important to us that the cats have as little stress as possible while we're away. We'd like to find someone who is friendly, calm, and can commit to keeping the space neat and the cats healthy. There's a ground floor and first floor. We need someone who can also stay in touch if needed. We'd expect you to leave the house as clean as you found it.
We may communicate and show you the house on a video call.

A Wonderful Sit
We really enjoyed our stay in Ostend looking after Tenki and Kichu. Zuzanna and Soen have a wonderful period style home near the centre of the city on a quiet residential street. The cats are a joy to care for, Kichu is full of energy, curious about everything and loves a chat while Tenki is more reserved at first but loves a brushing and some love… on her own terms of course! Communication was good from the outset and we were given a good set of information regarding the cats’ needs and running the household. We met briefly for handover and Zuzanna and Soen were both very welcoming and friendly. Ostend is a great place to spend some time, we really enjoyed exploring by bike - the cycling infrastructure is excellent - and we were able to see other cities very quickly and easily by train. We couldn't have asked for a better first sit through Mindmyhouse, we’ll hopefully visit again someday!

Peaceful 2 weeks with playful, loving cats
Zuzanna and Soen were so welcoming, warm and kind. Communication from the moment they contacted me, meeting them and throughout my stay was friendly, warm, clear and concise. They have two wonderfully loving cats. Kichu is playful, fun, energetic and a little clumsy at times. Tenki is more reserved but adores affection, brushing and companionship when she is more familiar with your energy, which luckily for me was almost instantly. They have a beautiful home full of light energy and character near the sea in Oostende. I would absolutely recommend a stay at their place and hope I will be lucky enough to return some time.
