About this assignment
We're looking for a person or couple who enjoy cats and gardens and can care for our home like we do! We keep our house really clean and our yard well maintained so our dream sitter would do the same.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Winnie the cat is super low maintenance and healthy. Mostly she will just love your company. She needs food twice/day and to be let in and out on occasion (she'll let you know). The litter box needs scooping every few days. We have a kind of extensive landscape that is on a sprinkler system so pretty much takes care of itself, but it would be good to have someone who knows their way around a garden and likes to dead head flowers and generally putter. There are some potted plants as well that need water if there is no rain. Garden/outdoor maintenance not needed in winter months.
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in a quiet, beautiful but not stodgy(!) gated community with huge trees, winding streets, a pool and with access to the Cape Fear River. Our home is less than 4 years old, very clean, comfortable and private. We are 20 minutes from the historic river walk in downtown Wilmington, NC and 35-40 minutes from a number of gorgeous beaches. WIFI is excellent.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
A vehicle is necessary as we are outside of town. Possible use of ours to be discussed. We do live in a gated community, so out of respect for our neighbors' sense of security, it's important that only the designated house sitter(s) have access to the development.

Awesome time with Winnie
Lisa and Jim were amazing. Being house sitters themselves they had everything organized and detailed. The location was beautiful and there was much to do and see in the area. And there was a binder with many suggestions, pamphlets and maps. HOWEVER, the BEST part of this sit was spending time with Miss Winnie!! She is so sweet and loving. She loves to be brushed and snuggled. She has such a great personality and is so funny! She also loves to go outside and explore and will come home whenever she decides it's time. Best homeowner to work for!
Lisa was a wonderful homeowner to work with from start to finish. I have been cat sitting for Lisa and her husband Jim over the last two years with multiple return assignments. They are easy to approach, good communicators, organized with instructions, and made me feel very welcome in their comfortable home. Neighbors were friendly and helpful with a storm power outage (generator started) and other minor issues. Winnona is an adorable, well-behaved tuxedo cat that you will love. I highly recommend cat sitting for Lisa and Jim!

A wonderful first housesitting experience
This was my first house sitting experience with Mind My House and it went smoothly. My host was friendly, organized, reliable, tidy, helpful, and kept in contact. She helped me feel comfortable right away by scheduling a virtual face time meeting which included a tour of her home to know what to expect. She gave me a neighborhood map, addressed security issues (neighborhood is very safe), and gave me the contact of her next door neighbor if I needed help with anything. She wrote out written directions and was available by phone when questions arose at any point before and during the sit. The cat was playful, active, curious, and overall easy to care for. I quickly adapted to the commute into town for supplies and/or attractions. I highly recommend this host!
