About this assignment

Someone(s) reliable who will tend to my dog, cats, mail, and watering gardens as necessary, and follow house rules re no smoking, parties, or excessive noise. And who would enjoy this trendy urban neighborhood!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feeding, brushing, and loving on my three-legged indoor/outdoor cat, Trixie, and my outdoor feral cat, Ghostie. Feeding, brushing, playing with, walking, and loving on, my elderly but peppy white lab, Cora Belle. And keeping her isolated from the front of the house during the day.
Bringing in mail.
Watering gardens as indicated.
Following house rules and staying in touch with me.
Keeping house reasonably clean and quiet

What are the good features of the property and location

My large rennovated bungelow is over 100 years old and full of folk and contemporary art. Located in a fun, hip, intown neighborhood next to the beautiful grounds of the Carter Presidential Library with lots of restaurants, shops, and bars very close by. Also next to the Freedom Trail, and about a quarter mile from the Beltline with all its activities. A few blocks away from the funky and fun Little Five Points area.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Maturity and experience valued. Please love dogs and cats. My Trixie lets herself in and out, and Ghostie stays out, so no catbox. Unfortunately, Trixie occasionally brings in a bird or chipmunk, sometimes dead, sometimes not. Gotta be able to deal with this. (Scoop up dead animals and throw over side fence. Leave back door open for live chipmunks to escape.) There's a lot of garden to water and what with global warming....
This is a non-paying arrangement.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Wonderful Experience

We had the privilege of house and cat sitting in February/March 2023. Trixie is the sweetest, and most independent, cat we've ever met. She loved her cuddles and treats in the morning, and her afternoon naps. She was very low maintenance, and doesn't take long to adjust to your presence. Jill is one of the warmest, most gracious person you could possibly hope to meet and we have formed a lifelong friendship with her. We would have come for the next time she went on vacation but we already had plans back at home. I like to think of her house as alive with all of the art, family pictures going back generations, and photo albums that take you through many journeys of her life. The house is beautiful and large, has a big back yard and patio, there is a lot to explore. The house backs onto a path that takes you to the Atlanta Beltline within minutes. We didn't have a car but we didn't need one, we were able to walk everywhere. The neighbourhood is very safe, and the people are incredibly nice. We walked late at night through the parks from late dinners and there was nothing to be concerned about in terms of personal safety. There is no shortage of things to do within 30 minutes in any direction. Inman Park is beautiful with gorgeous homes, cool local shops and alive with art everywhere. There are a lot of great restaurants and patios, so you'll always find somewhere fun to hang out. We would highly recommend this posting as a great experience, complete with the joy of taking care of Trixie, and getting to know Jill.

Even the cat is a work of art

It was so entertaining and fun to house/cat sit at Jill's house in Atlanta. The house could be an art museum, with fun and interesting pieces adorning everything inside and out! I quite sure that I didn't see all the artwork in the 2 weeks that I was there. It's a lovely home with a lot of charm. Jill also left a thorough, written house and cat guide which was great, and she was accessible always by cell. Trixie, the 3-legged wonder kitty......was a lot of fun. Trixie does more than most 4 leggeds. She can GET around! She also likes to snuggle and will purr like crazy when you pick her up. Jill's house is in a great little area of Atlanta, walking distance to restaurants, shopping and bars. It's also right beside miles and miles of walking and biking trails. I really enjoyed staying there and would do so again happily.
