Country House near Cercal do Alentejo (Costa Vicentina)

About this assignment

Living in our place and looking after the few things that have to be done to keep it going. Be careful and communicative and just enjoy and value the calm and relaxing position outside amongst the Alentejo hills.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Some minor responsibilities like watering some plants in the warm/hot seasons, keeping walkways open and clean from wild vegetation, reading the meter for electricity sometimes ... all these little things that you know from your own home. And: one of our dogs needs to be taken care of. But everything we can agree on individually, let's just talk about it...

What are the good features of the property and location

Our stand-alone house and land is nestled in a very quiet corner of the never ending Alentejo hills. Unlike the surrounding hills in summer, the place is quite green all year, as it borders a small stream. Cercal with a big variety of shops, cafés and daily some bus connections to Lisbon every day is just 5km away. The surrounding is good for many activities. The west coast with many wild beaches is very near (15min by bus/car). The hills are perfect for hiking, especially from autumn to spring. And we are part of a good network of neighbours and friends. So if anything happens when advice or help is needed, someone will be there.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We would appreciate committment, which also includes staying for a longer period than just two or three weeks. We are convinced that it needs some time to get in touch with a place. And we would love to have people around who want to do that.
