Intrepid sitters wanted in jungle paradise!

About this assignment

We are looking for someone who is happy living with animals and nature and grateful to be away from the rat race! We built our houses out of recycled materials and to help the environment. It is not for everyone but if you are that sort of person it is genuinely paradise! We do have wild animals too so you must be prepared for scorpions, tarantulas and snakes as well as hummingbirds, toucans parrots and the odd jaguar!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We have 3 dogs, 5 cats, 6 rabbits and chickens and ducks as well as wild jungle that all need looking after!
We also grow food so we need someone who is interested in gardening and will keep certain plants alive!!!
Your main responsibilities would be our animals, ensuring they are happy and healthy so for example on dog walks we also forage for rabbit food. It is also extremely hot so keeping everyone and everything watered and cool is a priority.
Also keeping all the systems running… we are solar powered and have our own water catchment system, neither are complicated but it needs someone there in case of any faults.

What are the good features of the property and location

If you really want to get away from it all, live with nature, off-grid then our home is for you! It truly is beautiful and the houses themselves are rather stunning if I say so myself!!! Most of the buildings have some form of bottle art so at dawn and sunset they are incredible. We are also a 10 minute walk through the jungle to the cool, Columbia river and not only are next to Mayan ruins but have them on our land!
We are only a 35/ 40 minute drive from Punta Gorda which has a good market and supermarkets.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You really have to want to be away from it all to come and stay with us, it is hot, it is hard work on a daily basis but it is also incredibly rewarding and fulfilling… and if you are thinking of starting your own place off grid somewhere then it is a great intro to what this lifestyle entails.
