About this assignment

Good communication is top of the list for us. We are looking for a reliable, clean, nature & wildlife loving person with a hands on approach to life. We have a big garden both flowers, organic vegetables and fruits. They most likely will need no care while we're away but our property is rural so we like someone that is aware that this is not city or even town living.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

There is a small outdoor goldfish pond that may need a water top up once a week. No fish at the moment.
We have 2 Hummingbird feeders that will need to be cleaned and refilled every 2-3 days
There may be giving of treats to various wild critters like jays and towhees or squirrels. They are irresistible :)

What are the good features of the property and location

Lovely 3 bedroom, 2 bath, cozy house in rural area on a private lake. The property is large, on 8 acres most of which is forest. Beautiful views of the lake from the kitchen and open space dining/living room. Big front flower garden and various enclosed vegetable gardens.

No pets but we do have a plethora of wild critters (squirrels, Steller's jays, towhees etc.) that visit, entertain us and get, or rather 'demand', treats. We have Anna's hummingbirds all year round. They're such sweeties and fun to watch. We have 2 feeders that need to be cleaned and refilled regularly. There is also a small fish pond that will need occasional care.

The house is in a beautiful, quiet area but a car is mandatory. About 12 minutes drive to the nearest little supermarket and 25 - 30 to a larger shopping area in Gig Harbor.

There are not a lot of restaurant and coffee shop options here but if you're into nature you're in for a treat. You can enjoy it from the windows of the house or go for a walk at Joemma Beach, Penrose State Park or Maple Hollows. Hiking options are not too far but will take an hour or 2 to get to. There are also lots of beautiful drives along the many waterways.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

I mostly mentioned everything above but our preference would go to a nature & gardening loving person. The house is in a beautiful, quiet area but a car is mandatory. About 12 minutes drive to the nearest little supermarket and 25 - 30 to a larger shopping area in Gig Harbor.

We are a fully Covid vaccinated and boosted household and prefer the same from you.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Lovely Forest Home - Great People

I had a wonderful time taking care of Biggi and Keith's secluded home in the beautiful PNW forest. Their property is fully surrounded by nature - with giant trees, lots of roaming critters, a lake in the backyard, and a very large (and thoroughly impressive) home garden during the growing season. If you are coming to stay during that time period, know that you will be responsible for a good bit of watering - more complex than your average place, but nothing too difficult. Biggi & Keith did a fantastic job walking me through and explaining everything that needed to be, and even left a nice printed information guide to review containing most of the important bits. They made me feel right at home once I arrived and I was totally comfortable with the place during their trip. If you enjoy peace, serenity, and all things natural - this is the place to be! It also has incredible proximity to state parks, beaches, forest walks, and hikes if you feel like exploring. Biggi and Keith are warm, intelligent, interesting, and friendly folks. Truly nothing but good vibes since our first chat and it continued that way until the end of my stay! They were both easily reachable if necessary and are straightforward/solid communicators. Also, their home is really cool and interesting; it's filled with art from all over the world and features an expansive book collection if you're a big reader. It has all of the normal amenities and everything worked just fine during my time there. I do suggest that if you are coming to stay that you know how to cook at least a little bit as the options in the nearby town are fairly limited for dining - their kitchen is fully functional and had everything that I needed. All in all, it was a great stay and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a little peace and quiet or somewhere to recharge/reconnect with nature. Photos and descriptions don't really even do it justice, their place is far more beautiful in person!
