About this assignment

We're looking for a clean, non-smoking single person or couple who loves dogs and being in nature and would love to enjoy winter here in Umbria, Italy!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Our younger dog requires a daily walk (and the older one likes to join but can't go far) although he will often take himself! The walk is from our front door and completely in nature, we don't even take a dog leash!

Our older dog loves company, and typically spends the day asleep near us! At night sleeps on the porch unless it's too cold (those few nights you could be woken up by her needing the toilet), the younger one sleeps inside and spends all day outside!

We also have a few chickens who are very easy to look after- just collect the eggs, and once a week clean their nesting box.

What are the good features of the property and location

The centrally located house is in the hills, surrounded by olive trees, vines and bush. It's incredibly quiet and has plenty of natural light.

There is strong, unlimited wifi.

Our nearest service town in Todi, 15 minutes by car.

You'll also be close to:
Rome (2 hours)
Florence (2 hours)
Val d'Orcia (90 minutes)
Perugia (50 minutes)
Orvieto (30 minutes)

Our nearest village hosts an "Aperitivo" every Wednesday and Sunday evenings which is almost exclusively expats and international visitors.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our dogs cannot be left alone overnight so you will be limited to day-trips. We both work from home so they are used to having company during the day, but we don't mind if once or twice a week they are left all day.

You'll need a car and to be confident driving in the country side as the house is quite isolated and on a winding (and a short but steep section) dirt road.

We have just one permanent neighbour across the road (70 year old single lady), and two other houses nearby used for weekend homes so you should really be a person who enjoys the peace and quiet.

This sit is not suitable for families with young kids or with their own dogs.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

House + 2 dogs in Umbria

Kirstie and her husband were very welcoming and gave me very good directions to reach their home, in an isolated spot surrounded by lovely walks. We also had a lovely meal together the night before their departure. The 2 dogs were very friendly, easy to care for and spent most of their time outdoors, letting me know when they wanted to come in. The house is very cosy and is a beautiful location, 30 minutes away from Orvieto and about 15 minutes from Todi. I enjoyed my time there and would be happy to return.
