About this assignment
Looking for a trusted person or people to look after our house and animals. Just need to be reasonable, respect the property and clean up after yourselves.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Looking after Labradoodle Marvin, cats Kizzy, Wilson and Lily, and 5 chickens. Cats are easy, and Marvin is large but loveable. Making sure that house and grounds are secure and safe whilst we’re away.
What are the good features of the property and location
We have a fully equipped guest annex. Property is set in an incredible location in the Scottish Borders in its own 8 acre wooded grounds. There is a wood burning hot tub, wood burning stove, and high speed internet. Large pond and direct access to mountain walks.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The location is tricky to get to by public transport. Winter months can be snowy, but we have emergency supplies! Because of the size of the site and the sloped location probably need to be fit and active.

Great house sit !
It was a joy to house sit for Jane and Jamie. They made as very welcome when we arrived .Their home and grounds in Broughton are very special ,not to mention Marvin their pet Labradoodle and their three affectionate cats , Wilson, Kissy and Lily . .Their home is situated with special views all around with only 10 min walk to the local village store.It was easy to develop a special bond with “ marvellous “ Marvin .Their friendly neighbours showed us many walks and gave us useful info on places to visit. We stayed at this lovely property in February 2024 and were made to feel very welcome by the owners Jamie and Jane who we met before their trip. We shared the experience with a labradoodle, 3 cats and one chicken. Marv the dog was easy to care for with his laid back temperament. If the weather wasn't good it was an advantage just to be able to walk him around the property border. 3 cats were independent - just needed feeding twice daily. The property was 5 minutes walk to village, community shop and bus route. If we encountered any problems (which we didn't) we had the mobile numbers of friendly local neighbours. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and looking after the lovely animals and home for Jamie and Jane. A great House Mind for anybody ....
