About this assignment
My cat-girl Teddy, almost 16.5 years old has just lost her two brothers and is quite lost now. She is in need of cuddles and a little spoiling. Someone calm who cherishes peace and quiet would be perfect. Looking for a mature cat sitter with experience with older cats. Speaking French will be useful, as vet visits (10 minutes drive) may be required.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
If needed pills need to be given or liquid remedies. Also, trips to the vet might be necessary. Please only people with experience in medicating cats and dealing with end-of life scenarios should apply. Teddy is afraid to go outside and uses the litterbox which requires maintenance. She loves to eat and gets fed twice (+) with home-made raw food. All food needed is pre-made and frozen.
What are the good features of the property and location
We came to Europe from NS, Canada in September 2023 and are currently living in the wine producing village Pinet in the South of France. We are staying in a beautiful stone villa with an outdoor dining area. The pool is closed for the winter. The villa is comfortable with in floor heating and a fireplace. There are vineyards everywhere and the coast is just 15 Minutes away.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
WIFI is available throughout the house. There are surveillance cameras in the villa, but they are all taped over. Everything is provided, beds are made, towels, etc. Kitchen is fully equipped. TV and microwave. A car is needed to live here. My car is not available to be used.
Can I bring my own pets?

A Very Special Litter of Cats
Initial communication with Barbara was clear with very informative details about looking after her cats and home. We spent a day together before Barbara left and she ensured that she showed me around the villa, where everything is in the kitchen which is very well stocked with everything that you’d need. There are local restaurants and Barbara took me to a lovely Mediterranean one on the evening that I arrived. The supermarket is 5 minutes away by car. Caring for Monte, Wall.E and Teddy was a privilege and a pleasure. I spent three weeks in Barbara’s lovely villa living with the curious, playful and intelligent cats sprinkled with many comic moments! Initially it took a little patience and time to bond with these beauties as they obviously missed Barbara but in time a heart-warming connection and understanding developed between us which over time turned into a mutually trusting, caring and sensitive relationship. Although Barbara provided the use of an E-bike, and there’s a bus route into Paphos from the village, I rented a car and explored the amazing Dionysus 2nd Century AD Paphos archaeological site and, the buzzing Paphos harbour with plenty of free parking, shops, restaurants and pleasure boating. And the beautiful Coral Bay with free parking close to the beach, changing facilities and beach bars. Monte, Wall.E and Teddy are a very special litter of cats and it’s beautiful to watch them care for each other. I miss them all and I hope to visit and care for them again in the future.
