About this assignment
We are seeking a reliable and conscientious house sitter to care for our home and dog while we're away. The ideal candidate will be organized, responsible, and a non-smoker.
Key Responsibilities:
- Care for our home and ensure everything is kept secure and tidy.
- Take our dog on two daily walks (3-4 km each), ensuring they get regular exercise and attention.
- Ensure the dog's overall well-being, including feeding, playtime, and companionship.
- Communicate with us regularly to provide updates on our dog and the home.
Requirements:
- Non-smoker
- Active and enjoys outdoor activities (dog walking at least twice per day)
- Previous experience with pet care is a plus
- Responsible and trustworthy

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
House Sitter Responsibilities:
- Mail Collection: Empty the mailbox daily to ensure any mail is brought inside and kept secure.
- Plant Care: Water the indoor and outdoor flowers daily (from spring to autumn) to keep them healthy and thriving.
- Dog Care: Take our dog on a minimum of two walks per day, each around 3-4 km. Ensure the dog gets plenty of exercise, attention, and companionship.
- Animal Feeding and Hydration: Feed and provide fresh water for our dog, cat, pigeons, hens, and fish (from spring to autumn).
Ensure all animals are well cared for and their needs are met.
- Animal Cleanup: Clean up after our animals, including scooping the cat litter box and collecting any dog excrement in the yard.
- Egg Collection: Collect eggs daily from our 4 hens and store them properly.

Whether you're exploring the local nature or enjoying the quiet atmosphere, the village provides the perfect balance of rural peace and easy access to nearby cities.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
We have a working dog, a Malinois, who is active, intelligent, and requires a consistent, determined leader. This breed thrives on structure, discipline, and regular exercise, so it’s important that our house sitter is sporty, experienced with high-energy dogs, and ready to provide daily care and attention.
Our Malinois needs plenty of physical activity and mental stimulation, making it essential for the sitter to take our dog on two daily walks of at least 3-4 km, as well as engage in other activities to keep her sharp and well-exercised. A strong, confident presence is key to ensuring she remains well-behaved and balanced.

I met Erika and Chris a couple of days before they left, so they had enough time to pass over everything I had to know for the remaining 2.5 weeks. My wife has joined me 1 week later only. The family picked me up on the airport, it felt like I knew them for years. They were so friendly and so kind! Next day I had a chance to participate on a birthday party organized by them. It was fun and my honor to be part of it. The area is designed for long walks, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The village, the Jura park is just simply perfect to stay at. We felt the first time somewhere where we would have had stayed for good. Ellie, the dog was the best thing during our stay. We had so much fun together on our long daily walks. She is extremely smart, well trained and good to walk with. At night she slept in the living room, no issues with her. Lana, the cat was very cute! A cat from another level. She is beautiful and loved cuddles. Easy to take care of. Pigeons were easy too, as well as the hens, who were providing tasty eggs during our whole stay! The property is beautiful and very well equipped. It was easy to get used to it. Erika loves to keep the house tidy, so it was nice to take over the place. Erika and Chris provided us everything we needed, couldn't complain for anything. They were helpful, warm hearted and did everything for us to enjoy our stay as much as possible.
