About this assignment

I'm looking for someone who is ok with solitude. Someone who is kind to animals. Couples, are of course, most welcome to my cottage.
I'm looking for house sitters on the following dates:

Monday 21 October to Friday 25 October 2024
Sunday 17 November to Thursday 21 November 2024
Tuesday 3 December to Thursday 5 December 2024
Friday 21 February to Monday 24 February 2025

With flexibility by one or two days either side of the above dates.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Looking after my two dogs and my hens.
Feeding the dogs and taking them for walks.
Feeding the hens, cleaning out hen coop (if necessary), collecting (and eating!) the eggs.

What are the good features of the property and location

My cottage is very remote, 10 minutes drive to the nearest village! My nearest neighbour is 2km away! So it is very peaceful. There is NO mobile phone coverage but I have excellent internet and Sky TV. The cottage is on 3 acres, surrounded by forestry and also has direct access to The Wicklow Way, Ireland's premier hiking route.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

All applicants must have their own transport as my cottage is very remote - see above. The nearest village is 10 minutes drive away, the nearest supermarket is 30 minutes drive away.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Hi, we spent a few days at Hermione's THIS summer - July 2024! F

Wonderful Wicklow Pet/housesit

We cared for Hermione's lovely pet dogs, Twinkle and Rhea, poultry and plants for a few days in July 2023 and enjoyed every (but too, too brief) moment of our 'sit.' Hermione showed us in person and instructed us on all that needed to be done re pets and plants and very kindly prepared a meal for us on our arrival. We (humans and canines) all enjoyed walking in the forest by the river - the Wicklow Way is on Hermione's doorstep. Highlights for me, personally - beekeeping (for about 2 mins) and listening to Rhea's barking echo in the valley! We highly recommend a 'sit' at Hermione's.
