Hi! I am looking for someone to keep my cats and plants company while I'm out of town. I have two sweet kitties named Bryce and Sequoia. Sequoia has diabetes and needs insulin injections twice daily at 7am and 7pm. They also will want someone to snuggle and hang out with while I'm away!
+ Sequoia (the black cat) needs insulin injections twice a day, at 7am and 7pm. She receives 3 units in the am and 2 units in the pm. Giving the injections is easy and Sequoia is very used to them - she barely looks up from her food when she gets them now. I can provide a demonstration or a video of Sequoia receiving her shot before the house sitting assignment starts if helpful.
+ Please feed the kitties wet food twice a day, also at 7am and 7pm when Sequoia receives her insulin. They receive a quarter can of Royal Canin glyco balance wet food each.
+ Please send me a quick picture of the kitties twice a day after they receive their insulin :)
+ In addition to the wet food, the kitties have an automated feeder for dry food. There's nothing you'll need to do for this besides keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't run out. If it does, there's an extra back of Royal Canin glyco balance dry food in the laundry room. Simply remove the top of the feeder and dump the food in
+ Finally, Sequoia receives some additional dry food in a SureFeed feeder. I’ll provide details of how much food she should receive in this feeder once the sit is confirmed
+ Provide the kitties with fresh water as needed
+ Attend to the litter boxes as needed. There are two traditional boxes and an automated box in the bathroom. I scoop the traditional boxes (both solid waste and the clay that forms from liquid waste) twice a day. For the automated box, please add more litter as needed, and check the bottom drawer every other day. When the bottom drawer is full, simply throw the bag out and replace - garbage bags are under the bathroom sink. Note that Bryce sometimes poops outside the box when she's stressed. It's nothing to worry about, but it can be stinky. Small poop bags and clean-up spray + paper towels are available to clean up any messes.
+ Give the kitties some love!
+ Water the plants once a week, or more often if they are wilting (some are more dramatic than others)
+ Bring in any packages that arrive while I'm away. Packages from Chewy are more supplies for the kitties - feel free to open these.
+ Light cleaning to prevent the apartment turning into one giant litter box - kitty litter can get everywhere. There's a hand broom in the bathroom and a vacuum in the laundry room to clean up tracking
+ Amazing location in West Highlands, walking distance to great restaurants, bars and breweries on 32 street and Tennyson street. I'll share a list of some of my favorites!
+ 25 minute drive from hikes in the foothills, and it's easy to get on the highway to make the most of the mountains. I'll also share some recommendations for nearby hikes :)
+ Easy access to downtown
+ The apartment itself is spacious and gets great natural light from two floor-to-ceiling windows
+ Balcony to enjoy nice weather!
I love living here, and would love for someone to enjoy it while I'm away!
The most important consideration is being comfortable giving Sequoia her insulin injections, and being able to give these consistently at 7am and 7pm daily. Please also consider that I am out of town often, but not for long periods, so the sitting assignments will be more short term. Unless otherwise noted, I will give Sequoia her morning shot on the first day of the sit and her evening shot on the last day of the sit.
No, sorry.
