About this assignment

An amazing attitude and great clear happy honest timely communication makes all wonders happen ; ) Loving, kind, 5 star hotel standard clean, caring and humble people will match our values and be very easy to create a magical experience with.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We mainly need care of the house-property: to be very aware and proactive (phoning immediately for emergency) in the face of any possible nearby fire hazard, to water the trees and plants, to set on the pump almost daily to bring all possible water our of the little existing well which fills up each night, to keep it all clean and dust-wasp-insect-mice-free indoors and outdoors, to keep the plants like we left them, to maintain the pool, to feed the chickens and "sit" them while they are out so no fox/eagle/etc eats them (it is a beautiful shady area where to sit in a hammock, paint on a table, read...)... and to put the chickens back in any time house sitter is to leave their side; to feed and be loving to the cat, to feed and if she allows groom the mare, to keep her company -just being in the same area together while she grazes she likes : ) , to keep mare dumplings (excrements) out of certain areas (and maybe collected for making biogas). To provide water for all animals. To keep animal spaces (chicken coop, cat sleeping place...) clean, meaning each 15 days changing it over (the blanket for cat or the earth-woodchips for chickens: putting the pooped layer out under trees and filling with woodchips anew... mixed with some eucalyptus leaves to keep parasites away. Also for chickens: to provide ashes for ash bath.

The cat is a very loving wild cat who came to us and generally in great company he loves to stay (yet sometimes still leaves for days on adventures if his instinc calls). He is very loving and super cuddly : ) And only an outside cat! Not meant to be inside of the houses, please... especially to avoid any birthing or new mama to have to face a cat allergy!

Keeping a very mindful and wise water usage is a must. Same with electricity -we are relaying solely on solar panels: special care that fridges and freezers don't turn off and any stored food decays, so careful with power outs (to turn back on) and with over using electricity if several rainy/super cloudy days on a row -which is totally unlikely in the summer.

Also daily airing all properties is important: in the fresh hours of the day, to keep the houses fresh.

Keeping all gates closed to avoid wild animals such as wild boar to come and destroy any garden.

Gathering and storing the eggs.

Gathering any summer fruit and plants (we know about wild harvesting, you can learn from us if you like) and preserving it. You may eat some fresh if you like. Plums, figs, grapes, lemons, blackberries and oranges are the main fruits around in Summer.

What are the good features of the property and location

Totally off grid, in a remote pristine mountain paradise, 30 minutes by car away from nearest village (2-3 hours walking) is our beloved home made up of a bigger house, a little house, a "suite" (the Sweet), a storage-stable and a caravan.

Beautifully and elegantly constructed, with hand made iron work on doors, stone paved charming exterior stairs, paths and eating and chilling spaces, it is a haven for silence, bird listening, eagle watching, fresh morning and night air. It is oriented to the Northeast, so interiors remain cool and porches in front too, and very nicely breezy -in one I am sitting now at 1 pm : ) .  It is all surrounded by public forest, so nearest neighboor is at a 15 min drive... meaning enormous privacy in all buildings and property forests and chilling areas.

We are now getting the pool ready for the summer and other water sources to enjoy and refresh are:

-incredible waterfalls in the property and all around (it rained a lot this spring so they are unusually active still... some might be till summer ; ) ... one 2 min walking away, the rest further.

-15 minutes away by car there are 2 amazing views spring water stone small pools to plunge in ; ) Sunny in the mornings, shady in the evenings

-1 h walking in the other direction the shaded and beautiful Genal River : )

-30 minutes away by car the public pool of Pujerra.

-1 h 15 minutes away beautiful beaches of Estepona, still the Mediterranean. A bit further Guadalmina area, full of flowers.

-2 h away stunning beaches of Cádiz, the Atlantic already: Tarifa, Bolonia, Conil...

Pujerra is 30 min away and has little shops and restaurants from house food to fine dining. Júzcar is normally 30 min away too by car in the other direction, but this spring rains made that dirt road brake so it will be in reparation, not sure to be finished before the summer ends.

For a special ocasion, a beautiful place near by where to dine, normally just 15 min away by car but since road broke, 1h walking trip, is the luxurious vineyard of La Fábrica de Hojalata, where you can have a wine taste and meal cared by its wonderful hosts. Reservations in advance are needed.

1 h away by care is the dream city of Ronda (might take a bit more to arrive if you are not so used to dirt roads).

Dirt roads are drivable by all cars, not 4x4 needed.

This is our home and temple and the home and temple of many domestic and wild animals and for all those who will come to enjoy it, The sacredness of this purity is to feel. The whole place is getting ready to be a natural birth haven for families to come and be helped with and cared for in all from natural fertility to postpartum care, and no-school-school for children and teenagers to grow happily, following their inner motivation and caring for each other. We have a great love for the place and care for it very much : )

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Due to the remoteness of this pure air place we imagine it can be a best option for a person loving the calming and creative solitude of pristine wilderness, or for a couple or family happy with being deep in nature during a whole month or month and a half (with some visits to nearby other beautiful places).

Sitters who have a car should be happy with up and down slopes of curvy cliffy dirt roads. All cars have made it no problem, it is not difficult and yes stunning, just heights-sickness people have had trouble.

If sitter has no car he/she must be happy with walking to places since there is no public transport from the house -yes after a 2 hour walk there is a village with a bus to Ronda and from there all else is reachable. There is a taxi service arriving all the way to the property.

Depending on how far we got with some building and ordering projects there might still be some construction material around, in as much collected so it looks and feels ordered.

The water situation in more detail is this: we have some water deposits with some 40 thousand liters of spring water that filled from a little underground well that last year gave less and less until it dried in August... and sitters need to be ever so mindful with the collected water in the Summer so that we can still have enough for dishes and higiene when we come back and till the next rains of the season (October- November?). Also to keep enough water for running the business of birth houses etc. when we start it. We need sitters to fully respect the water usage (minimal yet of course enough for personal higiene, dishes and washing the house... always mindful to reuse it for plants etc till we have the proper plumbing done for the 100% effortless reusing.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: As long as they stay only outdoors, do not eat chicken or any other of our animals and can be happy and caring with a cat, and a little boy while we are together, meeting you and showing you around.
