About this assignment

We are looking for an individual or couple comfortable taking care of our two lab mixes — Mozzie and Caffrey (Yes, like from the show White Collar!)

They're on the bigger side (65 and 40 lbs), but are very moderate energy pups. If you are into cute mountain towns, cute dogs, and a creative atmosphere for your travels — you'll be the perfect fit!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Both of our dogs are on a more flexible schedule — they get fed twice per day, and they usually go to the dog park (which is located on our apartment campus) or have some rough-housing time to get out their energy once per day. But otherwise, we both WFH so they are used to hanging out around the house, chewing on bones, and playing with each other. Our younger dog (Caffrey, yellow lab) is highly crate-trained and usually prefers a maximum of 10 hours out of the crate. He gets overstimulated fairly easily, so putting him back is is usually okay if you need a second to yourself or to go out of the house!

Other than that, they'll let you know if they need to go outside to go to the bathroom — we have a private entrance to the grass outside (so no elevators, flights of stairs, etc.,) and we'll be able to identify their favorite spots around the complex. There are "doggy bag" stations for scooping up number-twos.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in Fort Collins, CO which is about 20 minutes from the foothills and Horsetooth Reservoir, an hour from the Rockies, and 30-40 minutes from Roosevelt National Forest. We also are a 7-minute drive from "Old Town" — a beautiful arts district for shopping, listening to free live music/events, and a vibrant artistic atmosphere. Fort Collins does have free public transportation (a bus stop .1 miles from our home) and there are several affordable shuttles from DIA airport (about 1hr away). We will not be bringing our Subaru, so if you do need a car we may be able to negotiate use of that (for your safety and relaxation!)

As far as our property goes, we have a wonderfully equipped kitchen with everything you might need to make a delicious meal, an on-site pool, a 24-hour gym, and dog park. Our Queen mattress is like a cloud, and both of our (42, 55 inch) TVs have Hulu, Max, Netflix, Prime, Paramount+, and Peacock which you are welcome to use. We love to cook elaborate breakfasts in the morning, sit on our rocking patio furniture, and hang out with dogs in the morning — so if that's your jam, this is the place!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We would recommend making sure you're comfortable being in an apartment setting — while we have a relatively quiet apartment complex, it's not quite detached even though units are broken out into sections. As far as Mozzie and Caffrey go, they are huge snuggle bugs who have spurts of "zoomies" and can sometimes be counter surfers — something to note if you've never dealt with those behaviors from dogs on the larger side!

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
