Dog- and house-sitter needed in Park Slope Brooklyn, NY for 6 days

About this assignment

We need someone who adores dogs and is willing to take good care of two well-trained, super-loving dogs and our well-kept apartment. Time at home to cuddle is preferred and at least one hour-long, fast-paced walk per day is required. Knowledge and experience with leash skills is a must.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed the dogs twice a day, walk the dogs at least three times a day. One walk should be at least an hour long at a fast pace (and preferably in nearby Prospect Park as the weather allows).

What are the good features of the property and location

A spacious two bedroom, two bath, apartment on the top floor of a fourth-floor walk-up. A 10-minute walk to Prospect Park. On a quiet street but close to lots of restaurants and shops and Barclays Center. Convenient to most major subway lines (B,Q,N,R,2/3,4/5)

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The dogs are both rescues. They get along very well but have different needs. One (36-lb lab mix, female) needs lots of exercise, the other (23-lb chihuahua mix, male) is a short-legged "low-rider" and sometimes has trouble keeping up with the fast-paced younger one. The fast-paced dog is good on a leash but needs someone who can reinforce her skills, as she is very social and will eagerly approach any dog or person on the sidewalk. The low-rider can be timid with others. Both dogs love to cuddle. We work from home, so prefer a person who won't leave the animals alone for more than 4 or 5 hours at a time. The apartment is well-equipped and well cared for. Please respect the space as well as the animals. Please note that the sitter needs to be comfortable with stairs and with a fast-paced walk.
