**Would need to arrive the morning of June 15 by 10 am to meet Augusta before we leave for the airport and depart on morning of June 22**
Looking for: A kind, gentle dog lover who is responsible and caring. Someone who is a good communicator. An individual or couple would be fine.
This is a multi family building with neighbors upstairs and next door. They’re quiet, friendly, and respectful (one is a close friend). With the neighbors in close proximity I want to make sure the sitter is respectful of the home and property.
Can discuss more details via phone.
Care for Augusta, my ten year old mixed breed rescue. She is a sweet dog who loves humans. She is attached to me and when I travel she becomes somewhat depressed at first. She will sometimes not eat or drink water for the first few days and needs to be coaxed. The sitter will need to follow the feeding instructions to encourage her to eat (this is not time consuming). She will need to be fed 2x per day and taken outside 3x per day for bathroom breaks, one of which ideally is a walk. She loves supervised romps in the yard (it’s not fully fenced in) and walking around the neighborhood. There is a cat on the property who Augusta is friendly with. Her favorite pastimes are napping in the sun, cuddling, and going for sniffs around the neighborhood. Beyond Augusta, the only responsibility is caring for our home as if it were your own and keeping it tidy.
Our home is tiny but cozy. The living room and bedroom have TVs and the bed is a king size. Our unit has a private patio and a huge shared yard with a hammock and outdoor shower. Best of all is the town we are located in. We live in the Pleasure Point Neighborhood of Santa Cruz and are a 7 minute walk from the beach. One of the best surf spots is a 3 minute drive or 15 min walk away. The redwood forest is a 15 min drive away for anyone who loves to hike or mountain bike. Parking in our driveway for one car. Shops (coffee, restaurants, groceries) are nearby too. We do not have a car available for use.
This would be a great vacation for a dog lover who surfs or loves the outdoors. Santa Cruz has so many activities to offer and is really fun in the summer.
Augusta’s attachment quirks require extra love and patience at first. I want to make sure the house sitter is a dog lover who is going to care for her as if she’s their own and give her extra pets the first few days I’m gone. That being said, once Augusta gets over her initial slump she is an easy going dog who mainly snoozes all day. She isn’t a barker and is a big love bug. My quote for her is “she loves to be loved.”
No, sorry.
