Seeking Housesitter for 2 sweet dogs in beautiful North Scottsdale, AZ outskirts in a rural area on trail system with hiking and mountain biking trails within walking distance. World class trails available within 10 minute drive. Great place to base out of with the family while visiting relatives in the greater Phoenix area. Golf courses, spas, museums, Aquarium and shopping are within half hour drive.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Pet care including 2 daily walks, pets, loving, medication administration and feeding of 2 adult "kid friendly" dogs (border collie mix and Aussie mix rescues) and small outdoor garden and houseplants. Experience with basic pool care and spa helpful but not required.
What are the good features of the property and location
Comfortable, modern single story Santa Fe style home with large outdoor covered patio and private, fully fenced pool, hot tub and playground in rural setting with mountain views. Accommodations in comfortable private guest suite include 1 queen bed room and optional queen air mattress in second bedroom with shared bath. We have a shared well and great A/C. Reliable high speed internet.
Listen to the wolves and coyotes "sing" daily from the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center a 5 minute walk away and meet the animals on one of the daily tours.
25 minutes to shopping and attractions in a quiet, secluded neighborhood near McDowell Mountain Park. Nearby Fountain Hills and Scottsdale have plenty of cute shops and restaurants and parks, including a kids splash pad.. Museums, zoo, botanical gardens, nature sanctuaries as well as indoor Odyssey Aqaurium are easy drive.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Non-smoking, No additional pets. There is a flat skirt for RV parking available. Our area is located 45 minute drive from Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. Airport pickup can be arranged and we do have an SUV available for use by Housesitter if needed.

Very friendly and loveable dogs.
I had the pleasure of taking care of Thunder and Katie in April 2024. Both of the pups were just big love bugs. They have a schedule and if you forget they will let you know. Katie really loves to play ball and they both love their walks. I ended up being sick while I was there but, Katie and Thunder both sensed that I think, because they really didn't leave my side. even when I took afternoon naps they stuck with me. The house and surrounding area was beautiful. It was very relaxing to just sit on the back porch with the pups. Anne had very clear instructions and responded quickly with any questions i had. I would watch them again!

Watching Thunder & Katie in Scottsdale
It was a pleasure to watch Thunder & Katie for Anne & Dan in north Scottsdale. The house and surrounding area were great. We really enjoyed our twice daily walks among the horse farms & ranches. Some great hiking trails are nearby too. The dogs have a schedule, but don't worry, if you forget, they let you know when it's time to eat or go for a walk :) We look forward to watching them again if our schedules align.

Amazing
One of the most beautiful places that I have had the opportunity to dogs sit for. Anne and Dan were fantastic. Knowing that I would be staying at their house which is approximately 30 minutes from the stores she made sure that I had what I needed before they Departed. She made suggestions of wonderful places to go especially the Wildlife Conservation Center which was within walking distance from their house and you could hear the howling of the wolves and coyotes from the house. Sunsets and sunrises were beautiful. House is well maintained and was great for me to do my work in remotely as I enjoyed the two wonderful dogs, Thunder and Katie. They were so lovable and will be missed very much. I enjoyed the solitude and beauty of Arizona. The walks daily were so relaxing. I definitely would recommend this sitting to anyone and hope to do it again as well.

Stunning Oasis, Stunning People, Stunning All Round
I took care of Anne and Dan's house for a week in September, 2023. Everything, every single detail about their home is elegant, artistic, and cooling to the way of life in the desert. Truly, it is an oasis and includes the luxury of a swimming pool and spa, amenities that are very welcome in the heat of the desert. As for the dogs, they are love bugs through and through. Couldn't ask for more. The instructions I was given were detailed and thorough. Anne and Dan are kind and generous, and seasoned folks, used to having many house sitters at their place. I am grateful to have been selected to look after this beautiful home.

Experience the Solitude of the Dessert
Anne and Dan are great hosts. They made us feel welcomed and appriciated when we arrived. They were accommodating and made themselves available pre-sit to show us around the home and neighborhood. They left well documented details on home and pet care so we felt confident to meet their needs and expectations. Thunder and Katie are sweet, well mannered dogs and are great walking companions. Thunder, especially is a dream to walk. They have a lovely, comfortable and well organized home. It is peaceful and a great place to see wildlife. While there, we saw owls, deer, quail families, road runners, scorpions, snakes, jackrabbits , and cotton tails. We enjoyed hearing the calls of the coyotes and wolves at the neigboring wildlife sanctuary. We really enjoyed the solitude of the dessert and being way from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Beautiful home, wonderful pups!
I greatly enjoyed sitting for Anne & Dan & their wonderful pups Thunder & Katie. I was in their beautiful home in a remote location in Scottsdale for just under a month. While I was there the weather turned from cold & rainy to warm & temperate; then the desert turned green & the flowers popped. What a site to see! I miss the pups already & would definitely return.

A wonderful getaway and fantastic adventure
Anne and Dan were great about every aspect of my house/pet-sit for them. Friendly and accommodating, extremely responsive, amazingly hospitable. They have a beautiful home in suburban Scottsdale that is far out enough to feel rural, but close to everything you need and more. Thunder and Katie are delightful and easy to care for. I spent almost 3 weeks in their home and it just FLEW by. If you like the desert, you will love this MindMyHouse opportunity.

Country in the Desert
If you're looking for a unique experience, this is your stop. Anne and Dan have a beautiful home with two of the sweetest dogs I have met so far. There are enough neighbors to make you feel safe and yet you feel like you are a million miles from the rest of the world. Serene, quiet, relaxing. Breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to experience the natural beauty of the Arizona desert and doesn't mind a few daily chores and working around Thunder and Katie's feeding/walking schedule. Anne and Dan are pros at hosting sitters in their home. I was left with detailed instructions and expectations as well as suggestions for things to do in the area. Overall, I learned a lot from this experience. I enjoyed spending time with 2 loving companions, comfortable accommodations and a few weeks of much needed downtime!! Thank you Anne, Dan, Thunder and Katie!

Absolutely Amazing
Dan & Anne were some of the best home owners to pet sit for. They went above & beyond providing simple yet detailed instructions for the care of their babies- Thunder & Katie along with advice for the plants & yard. They gave great suggestions for spots to visit while I was there and not one of those recommendations disappointed! Thunder & Katie were such love bugs and were so very easy to get attached to. Taking them for daily walks in the desert, hikes & even playing in the backyard was so enjoyable. It was really hard saying goodbye to them. I’d welcome a chance to come back in a heartbeat.

Anne and Dan were great hosts, making sure that we were well informed about the sit, the dog's routines and the area. Their home is spacious and well appointed - set in the countryside, but just a half hour away from anything you might need. Katie and Thunder were very easy to look after, fun to play with and great company on walks.

Two glorious weeks in Arizona mountains
It was great spending time with Thunder and Katie the two of most adorable fur babies one could meet. All Thunder wants is food and love in that order but still well behaved ( so precious.) Katie is always on the job ( patrolling her yard.) Anne left detailed notes one for Thunder and Katie regarding feeding, walks and personality traits, veterinarian records, emergency contact. Another for house items and one for check out , all appreciated. Anne and Dan are not helicopter parents, they trust you to use your own good judgment, however they are always available for concerns and questions. Friendly neighbors and neighbor dogs everyone knows Thunder and Katie. Anne mentioned maybe next time we can get together in Scottsdale? I would love to see the Greco family again.

Lovely experience
Anne and her husband were welcoming, thoughtful and kind. Their dogs, Katie & Thunder were easy to care for, fun to walk and have distinct personalities which made spending time with them a delight. The neighborhood is in beautiful desert surrounded by views of mountains, and I met many lovely neighbors on my daily dog walks.

Loved Housesitting for Anne and Dan!
Housesitting for Anne and Dan and their two lovely fur babies was an amazing experience! They were very warm and welcoming and had prepared clear and detailed instructions about the care of the pets and location of everything in the home/home systems. I arrived a couple of days before their departure, and they took me around to meet the neighbors, get accustomed to the streets and trails where I would walk the dogs, and even took me to lunch as a thank you for coming! Their fur babies—Thunder and Katy—are absolute lovies and were wonderful companions during my stay. It takes Thunder a little bit to get used to you, but thereafter he was so calm and loving. They are both easy to walk together, and I didn’t have any problems with them at all. Their home is absolutely beautiful, and the setting is so captivating and a nice break from “the concrete jungle,” as it is about 30 minutes outside of town – not far from anything you would need yet a world away. Being able to sit outside and see the stars without the interference of city lights was awesome – and in the hot tub or pool to boot! I would definitely recommend housesitting for Anne and Dan

Scottsdale home and three animals
Anne and Dan's place on the rural edge of Scottsdale, AZ is surrounded by horse properties, and walking, hiking and biking trails. The trails are accessible directly out the front, or back, door and make a wonderful venue for walking their dogs each day. Beautiful, quiet, peaceful. We enjoyed this house/animal sit "job", and appreciated the time Anne and Dan took to orient us to their property, animals, and expectations.

House Sitting
House sitting for Anne was a dream. She was very explicit in her instructions on staying at her home and taking care of her sweet animals. Her home is very nice and comfortable. It is a short distance to stores and shopping. Scottsdale has a lot to do. Unfortunately, time went by so quickly I didn't get to do everything I wanted to do. I would definitely sit there again.
