Yes - two dogs, two cats and three horses
I'm looking for a housesitter who loves animals and can commit to caring for 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 horses. Since the house is about twenty minutes from downtown Santa Fe, in a country setting, the housesitter needs to have a vehicle and should be comfortable living just outside of town. Also, please consider this an 'active' housesitting position, meaning you should be able to lift a bale of hay, walk on uneven terrain, and be able to breathe easily at 7000 feet above sea level.
The main responsibilities will be feeding and caring for two dogs, two indoor/outdoor cats and three horses. The dogs are fed in morning and evening. They appreciate attention and exercise but don't need any leash walks. The cats roam free all day, but are brought in at night - they just need to have dry food in their bowl and have their litter boxes cleaned daily. The horses require feeding on a regular schedule, once around 8 am and again at about 6pm. Please don't consider this if you have your animal along, we want to avoid any possible pet chaos and have an environment that works for everyone.
The house is a two-story, two-bedroom home, with a finished basement. The house is in very good condition and has great character, with wood ceilings and unique details - overall, it's quite nice, but very casual feeling - it is a house you can relax in. The best thing is the location - about 20 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza, it's on ten acres, covered with juniper and pinon trees, and is backed up against wilderness. The house is close to town, but still rural. If you like to walk, there are trails behind the house, as well as about a five minute drive away. We have a couple of great wood stoves, and lots of passive solar gain, that add warmth and ambiance to our regular heating system if you are here in winter. The tv gets Netflix/Amazon/Roku and internet is usually reliable.
ATT mobile phones get good service at the house - Verizon struggles a bit. Not sure about other networks. The main thing is committing to the horse feeding schedule. Please note that we have rearranged some things in the house since these photos were taken, so they don't reflect exactly how things look but you get the idea. Experience with wood stoves is a major plus during winter months, if you choose to use it.
No, sorry.

Petsit in Santa Fe
Our petsit for Michael and Kelly was great! In spite of the fact they had 6 pets: 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses, this was an easy job because this family had everything perfectly organized. The instructions were very clear and the horses’ hay was pre-measured. The dogs are perfect companions and so well behaved. The cats kept to themselves for the most part, but checked in with us every so often. We enjoyed the bounty of the large veggie and flower gardens, which required no care, other than collecting goodies to add to dinner. Michael made us a delicious meal upon our arrival, and the whole family was so kind and welcoming. Our guest area downstairs was spacious, comfortable, and well-stocked. We loved our stay here which is a short distance from the heart of Santa Fe. We’d most definitely do it again!!
